24 and ye said, Behold, Jehovah our God hath showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth speak with man, and he liveth.
And when the voice of the trumpet waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
Did ever a people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.
Jehovah spake with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire, (I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the word of Jehovah: for ye were afraid because of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
