1 Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thy hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I destroy: Him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.
A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Ye shall not steal; neither shall ye deal falsely, nor lie one to another.
Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor: I am Jehovah.
Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.
If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrong-doing, then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges that shall be in those days; and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and have testified falsely against his brother; then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to do unto his brother: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. And those that remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of thee. And thine eyes shall not pity; life `shall go' for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death; and they found it not, though many false witnesses came. But afterward came two, and said, This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and rid you of care. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying was spread abroad among the Jews, `and continueth' until this day.
having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.
without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,
and why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.
Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and `against' God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council, and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:
And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse `any one' wrongfully; and be content with your wages.
An evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips; `And' a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.
and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him to death. And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him: and the base fellows bare witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.
He that slandereth not with his tongue, Nor doeth evil to his friend, Nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor;
What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, Thou deceitful tongue?
A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.
He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.
And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem; for he said, To-day will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
A worthless witness mocketh at justice; And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.
A false witness shall perish; But the man that heareth shall speak so as to endure.
A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor Is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
The north wind bringeth forth rain: So doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, `say' all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
