11 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain `persons' is void of understanding.
He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain `persons' shall have poverty enough.
and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you; that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.
neither did we eat bread for nought at any man's hand, but in labor and travail, working night and day, that we might not burden any of you:
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.
For thou shalt eat the labor of thy hands: Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; And walk in the way of understanding.
in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither; And as for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,
He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.
My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, Let us lay wait for blood; Let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause; Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol, And whole, as those that go down into the pit; We shall find all precious substance; We shall fill our houses with spoil; Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; Refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. For in vain is the net spread In the sight of any bird: And these lay wait for their own blood; They lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; It taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
I have not sat with men of falsehood; Neither will I go in with dissemblers.
And they gave him threescore and ten `pieces' of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light fellows, who followed him.
