17 He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.
A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.
A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who among all thy servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and is taken into thy council, and is honorable in thy house? Have I to-day begun to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute anything unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.
A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
A false witness shall perish; But the man that heareth shall speak so as to endure.
Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; And deceive not with thy lips.
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;
and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:
