8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: In keeping them there is great reward.
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding; Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding; If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God. For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth `cometh' knowledge and understanding: He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; `He is' a shield to them that walk in integrity; That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, `yea', every good path.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.
My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; Love her, and she will keep thee.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.
Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, Seeing he hath no understanding?
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee, If they be established together upon thy lips.
He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
