4 One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple.
Jehovah, I love the habitation of thy house, And the place where thy glory dwelleth.
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach `unto thee', That he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, Thy holy temple.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: They will be still praising thee. Selah
So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, To see thy power and thy glory. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee. So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;
`When thou saidst', Seek ye my face; My heart said unto thee, Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.
But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.
And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
And he spake a parable unto them to the end that they ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy king cometh unto thee; he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah, which he kept not; and also for that he asked counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire `thereby', and inquired not of Jehovah: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
I will wash my hands in innocency: So will I compass thine altar, O Jehovah;

Commentary on Psalms 27 Matthew Henry Commentary
Psalm 27
Some think David penned this psalm before his coming to the throne, when he was in the midst of his troubles, and perhaps upon occasion of the death of his parents; but the Jews think he penned it when he was old, upon occasion of the wonderful deliverance he had from the sword of the giant, when Abishai succoured him (2 Sa. 21:16, 17) and his people thereupon resolved he should never venture his life again in battle, lest he should quench the light of Israel. Perhaps it was not penned upon any particular occasion; but it is very expressive of the pious and devout affections with which gracious souls are carried out towards God at all times, especially in times of trouble. Here is,
And let our hearts be thus affected in singing this psalm.
A psalm of David.
