Job 25:2 Bible in Basic English (BBE)

2 Rule and power are his; he makes peace in his high places.

Cross Reference

Jeremiah 10:6-7 BBE

There is no one like you, O Lord; you are great and your name is great in power. Who would not have fear of you, O King of the nations? for it is your right: for among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you.

Ephesians 2:16-17 BBE

And that the two might come into agreement with God in one body through the cross, so putting an end to that division. And he came preaching peace to you who were far off, and to those who were near;

Ephesians 1:20-21 BBE

By which he made Christ come back from the dead, and gave him a place at his right hand in heaven, Far over all rule and authority and power and every name which is named, not only in the present order, but in that which is to come:

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 BBE

But all things are of God, who has made us at peace with himself through Christ, and has given to us the work of making peace; That is, that God was in Christ making peace between the world and himself, not putting their sins to their account, and having given to us the preaching of this news of peace. So we are the representatives of Christ, as if God was making a request to you through us: we make our request to you, in the name of Christ, be at peace with God. For him who had no knowledge of sin God made to be sin for us; so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

Daniel 4:34-37 BBE

And at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifting up my eyes to heaven, got back my reason, and, blessing the Most High, I gave praise and honour to him who is living for ever, whose rule is an eternal rule and whose kingdom goes on from generation to generation. And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing? At the same time my reason came back to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my honour and my great name came back to me; and my wise men and my lords were turned to me again; and I was made safe in my kingdom and had more power than before. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give worship and praise and honour to the King of heaven; for all his works are true and his ways are right: and those who go in pride he is able to make low.

Psalms 99:1-3 BBE

The Lord is King; let the peoples be in fear: his seat is on the winged ones; let the earth be moved. The Lord is great in Zion; he is high over all the nations. Let them give praise to your name, for it is great and to be feared; holy is he.

Job 40:9-14 BBE

Then I will give praise to you, saying that your right hand is able to give you salvation. See now the Great Beast, whom I made, even as I made you; he takes grass for food, like the ox. His strength is in his body, and his force in the muscles of his stomach. His tail is curving like a cedar; the muscles of his legs are joined together. His bones are pipes of brass, his legs are like rods of iron. He is the chief of the ways of God, made by him for his pleasure.

Job 26:5-14 BBE

The shades in the underworld are shaking; the waters and those living in them. The underworld is uncovered before him, and Destruction has no veil. By his hand the north is stretched out in space, and the earth is hanging on nothing. By him the waters are shut up in his thick clouds, and the cloud does not give way under them. By him the face of his high seat is veiled, and his cloud stretched out over it. By him a circle is marked out on the face of the waters, to the limits of the light and the dark. The pillars of heaven are shaking, and are overcome by his sharp words. By his power the sea was made quiet; and by his wisdom Rahab was wounded. By his wind the heavens become bright: by his hand the quickly moving snake was cut through. See, these are only the outskirts of his ways; and how small is that which comes to our ears about him! But the thunder of his acts of power is outside all knowledge.

Job 9:2-10 BBE

Truly, I see that it is so: and how is it possible for a man to get his right before God? If a man was desiring to go to law with him, he would not be able to give him an answer to one out of a thousand questions. He is wise in heart and great in strength: who ever made his face hard against him, and any good came of it? It is he who takes away the mountains without their knowledge, overturning them in his wrath: Who is moving the earth out of its place, so that its pillars are shaking: Who gives orders to the sun, and it does not give its light; and who keeps the stars from shining. By whose hand the heavens were stretched out, and who is walking on the waves of the sea: Who made the Bear and Orion, and the Pleiades, and the store-houses of the south: Who does great things not to be searched out; yes, wonders without number.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 BBE

Yours, O Lord, is the strength and the power and the glory, and the authority and the honour: for everything in heaven and on earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are lifted up as head over all. Wealth and honour come from you, and you are ruler over all, and in your hand is power and strength; it is in your power to make great, and to give strength to all.

CHAPTER 25

THIRD SERIES.

Job 25:1-6. Bildad's Reply.

He tries to show Job's rashness (Job 23:3), by arguments borrowed from Eliphaz (Job 15:15, with which compare Job 11:17.

2. Power and terror, that is, terror-inspiring power.

peace in his high places—implying that His power is such on high as to quell all opposition, not merely there, but on earth also. The Holy Ghost here shadowed forth Gospel truths (Col 1:20; Eph 1:10).

3. armies—angels and stars (Isa 40:26; Jer 33:22; Ge 15:5; "countless," Da 7:10).

his light—(Jas 1:17).

4. (Job 4:17, 18; 14:4; 15:14).

5. "Look up even unto the moon" (Job 15:15). "Stars" here answer to "saints" (angels) there; "the moon" here to "the heavens" there. Even the "stars," the most dazzling object to man's eye, and the angels, of which the stars are emblems (Job 4:18; Re 9:1), are imperfect in His sight. Theirs is the light and purity but of creatures; His of the Creator.

6. (Job 4:19-21; 15:16).

worm … worm—Two distinct Hebrew words. The first, a worm bred in putridity; alluding to man's corruption. The second a crawling worm; implying that man is weak and grovelling.
