3 What profit is it to me, and how am I better off than if I had done wrong?
For he has said, It is no profit to a man to take delight in God.
I have done no wrong; I give no thought to what becomes of me; I have no desire for life. It is all the same to me; so I say, He puts an end to the sinner and to him who has done no wrong together.
That, if I was an evil-doer, the curse would come on me; and if I was upright, my head would not be lifted up, being full of shame and overcome with trouble.
What is the Ruler of all, that we may give him worship? and what profit is it to us to make prayer to him?
As for me, I have made my heart clean to no purpose, washing my hands in righteousness;

Job being still silent, Elihu follows his blow, and here, a third time, undertakes to show him that he had spoken amiss, and ought to recant. Three improper sayings he here charges him with, and returns answer to them distinctly:-
