7 All the brothers of the poor man are against him: how much more do his friends go far from him! ...
My lovers and my friends keep away from my disease; my relations keep far away.

You have sent my friends far away from me; you have made me a disgusting thing in their eyes: I am shut up, and not able to come out.
You have sent my friends and lovers far from me; I am gone from the memory of those who are dear to me.

Now there was in the town a poor, wise man, and he, by his wisdom, kept the town safe. But no one had any memory of that same poor man. Then I said, Wisdom is better than strength, but the poor man's wisdom is not respected, and his words are not given a hearing.
And he said in a loud voice, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. And those who were in front made protests and said to him, Be quiet: but he said all the more, O Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus, stopping, gave orders that he was to come to him, and when he came near, he said to him,
But you have put the poor man to shame. Are not the men of wealth rulers over you? do they not take you by force before their judges?
If a brother or a sister is without clothing and in need of the day's food, And one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warm and full of food; but you do not give them the things of which their bodies have need, what profit is there in this?
But if a man has this world's goods, and sees that his brother is in need, and keeps his heart shut against his brother, how is it possible for the love of God to be in him? My little children, do not let our love be in word and in tongue, but let it be in act and in good faith.
