17 though indeed he did not leave himself without witness, doing good, and giving to you from heaven rain and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.
Who giveth rain on the face of the earth, and sendeth waters on the face of the fields;
that I will give rain to your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain; and thou shalt gather in thy corn, and thy new wine, and thine oil;
Because what is known of God is manifest among them, for God has manifested [it] to them, -- for from [the] world's creation the invisible things of him are perceived, being apprehended by the mind through the things that are made, both his eternal power and divinity, -- so as to render them inexcusable.
Jehovah will open to thee his good treasure, the heavens, to give rain unto thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow.
then I will give your rain in the season thereof, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;
Elias was a man of like passions to us, and he prayed with prayer that it should not rain; and it did not rain upon the earth three years and six months; and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to spring forth.
Enjoin on those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to trust on the uncertainty of riches; but in the God who affords us all things richly for [our] enjoyment;
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of [the] Highest; for *he* is good to the unthankful and wicked.
that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season: there shall be showers of blessing.
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou HE, Jehovah, our God? And we wait upon thee; for thou hast made all these things.
lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built and inhabited fine houses, and thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied, then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
and I will make it a waste -- it shall not be pruned nor cultivated, but there shall come up briars and thorns; and I will command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their food in its season. Thou openest thy hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
Jehovah is good to all; and his tender mercies are over all his works.
How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. Yonder is the great and wide sea: therein are moving things innumerable, living creatures small and great. There go the ships; [there] that leviathan, which thou hast formed to play therein. These all look unto thee, that thou mayest give their food in its season: That thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
Thou, O God, didst pour a plentiful rain upon thine inheritance, and when it was weary thou strengthenedst it. Thy flock hath dwelt therein: thou hast prepared in thy goodness, for the afflicted, O God!
Thou hast visited the earth, thou hast watered it; thou greatly enrichest it: the river of God is full of water; thou providest their corn, when thou hast so prepared it: Thou dost satiate its furrows, thou smoothest its clods, thou makest it soft with showers; thou blessest the springing thereof. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness, and thy paths drop fatness: They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness, and the hills are girded with gladness. The meadows are clothed with flocks, and the valleys are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, yea, they sing.
Jehovah, thy loving-kindness is in the heavens, and thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the high mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: thou, Jehovah, preservest man and beast. How precious is thy loving-kindness, O God! So the sons of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of ùGod; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun,
For he saith to the snow, Fall on the earth! and to the pouring rain, even the pouring rains of his might.
And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all good things, wells digged, vineyards and olive-gardens, and fruit trees in abundance. And they did eat and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.
