24 And Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good continually, that he might preserve us alive, as it is this day.
And now, Israel, what doth Jehovah thy God require of thee, but to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, to keep the commandments of Jehovah, and his statutes, which I command thee this day, for thy good?
If thou be righteous, what givest thou to him? or what doth he receive of thy hand? Thy wickedness [may affect] a man as thou [art], and thy righteousness a son of man.
What fruit therefore had ye *then* in the things of which ye are *now* ashamed? for the end of *them* [is] death. But *now*, having got your freedom from sin, and having become bondmen to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end eternal life.
