5 Oh that ye would be altogether silent! and it would be your wisdom.
Even a fool when he holdeth his peace is reckoned wise, [and] he that shutteth his lips, intelligent.
Hold your peace from me, and I will speak, and let come on me what [will]!
So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Should thy fictions make men hold their peace? and shouldest thou mock, and no one make [thee] ashamed?
How long will ye hunt for words? Be intelligent, and then we will speak.

Job here comes to make application of what he had said in the foregoing chapter; and now we have him not in so good a temper as he was in then: for,
