13 Surely ùGod will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Jehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask evilly, that ye may consume [it] in your pleasures.
Receive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart. If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. If thou remove unrighteousness far from thy tents, And put the precious ore with the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the torrents, Then the Almighty will be thy precious ore, and silver heaped up unto thee; Yea, then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto +God: Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows;
I cry unto thee, and thou answerest me not; I stand up, and thou lookest at me.
He will regard the prayer of the destitute one, and not despise their prayer.
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and draw near to hear, rather than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in the heavens, and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business, and a fool's voice through a multitude of words.
They shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee; [we], Israel. Israel hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.
For if ye offer up unto me burnt-offerings and your oblations, I will not accept [them]; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fatted beasts.
And he said to her, What wilt thou? She says to him, Speak [the word] that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand and one on thy left in thy kingdom. And Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink the cup which *I* am about to drink? They say to him, We are able.

Job 35:9-13
Elihu here returns an answer to another word that Job had said, which, he thought, reflected much upon the justice and goodness of God, and therefore ought not to pass without a remark. Observe,
Job 35:14-16
Here is,
