15 And Pilate, desirous of contenting the crowd, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.
Then he released to them Barabbas; but Jesus, having scourged [him], he delivered up that he might be crucified.
and they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again.
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!
The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
and they will deliver him up to the nations to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and the third day he shall rise again.
And Pilate adjudged that what they begged should take place. And he released him who, for tumult and murder, had been cast into prison, whom they begged for, and Jesus he delivered up to their will.
Then therefore he delivered him up to them, that he might be crucified; and they took Jesus and led him away.
But Festus, desirous of obliging the Jews, to acquire their favour, answering Paul, said, Art thou willing to go up to Jerusalem, there to be judged before me concerning these things?
but I saw none other of the apostles, but James the brother of the Lord.

What we read of the sufferings of Christ, in the foregoing chapter, was but the prologue or introduction; here we have the completing of them. We left him condemned by the chief priests; but they could only show their teeth, they could not bite. Here we have him,
