3 And the chief priests accused him urgently.
And the high priest, rising up before them all, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? What do these testify against thee? But he was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and says to him, *Thou* art the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king. And Pilate demanded of him saying, Art *thou* the king of the Jews? And he answering him said, Thou sayest. And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man. But they insisted, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee even on to here.
Pilate therefore went out to them and said, What accusation do ye bring against this man? They answered and said to him, If this [man] were not an evildoer, we should not have delivered him up to thee. Pilate therefore said to them, Take him, ye, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not permitted to us to put any one to death;
When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him they cried out saying, Crucify, crucify [him]. Pilate says to them, Take him ye and crucify [him], for I find no fault in him. The Jews answered him, We have a law, and according to [our] law he ought to die, because he made himself Son of God.
