5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering lip, with a double heart, do they speak. Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things,
For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, [even] when his iniquity is found to be hateful. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, to do good. He deviseth wickedness up on his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good: he abhorreth not evil.
I will meditate upon thy precepts, and have respect unto thy paths.
Search me, O ùGod, and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts;
{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} Free me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; preserve me from the violent man: Who devise mischiefs in [their] heart; every day are they banded together for war. They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.
The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
The purpose of folly is sin, and the scorner is an abomination to men.
Wash thy heart, Jerusalem, from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
But Herod the king having heard [of it], was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and, assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ should be born. And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea; for thus it is written through the prophet: And *thou* Bethlehem, land of Juda, art in no wise the least among the governors of Juda; for out of thee shall go forth a leader who shall shepherd my people Israel. Then Herod, having secretly called the magi, inquired of them accurately the time of the star that was appearing; and having sent them to Bethlehem, said, Go, search out accurately concerning the child, and when ye shall have found [him] bring me back word, so that *I* also may come and do him homage.
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, was greatly enraged; and sent and slew all the boys which [were] in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time which he had accurately inquired from the magi.
and took counsel together in order that they might seize Jesus by subtlety and kill him;
So that do not judge anything before [the] time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have [his] praise from God.
