1 {[A Psalm] of David.} Blessed be Jehovah my rock, who teacheth my hands to war, my fingers to fight;
Who teacheth my hands to war, and mine arms bend a bow of brass;
Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my ùGod, my rock, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
He teacheth my hands to war, And mine arms bend a bow of brass.
For not by their own sword did they take possession of the land, neither did their own arm save them; but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst delight in them. Thou thyself art my king, O God: command deliverance for Jacob.
For the rest, brethren, be strong in [the] Lord, and in the might of his strength. Put on the panoply of God, that ye may be able to stand against the artifices of the devil:
For who is +God save Jehovah? and who is a rock if not our God?
Be to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Come, let us sing aloud to Jehovah, let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation;

Ps 144:1-15. David's praise of God as his all-sufficient help is enhanced by a recognition of the intrinsic worthlessness of man. Confidently imploring God's interposition against his enemies, he breaks forth into praise and joyful anticipations of the prosperity of his kingdom, when freed from vain and wicked men.
