¹ Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

² In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

³ The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

⁴ And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

⁵ Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

⁶ And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

⁷ And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

⁸ And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

⁹ Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

¹⁰ As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

¹¹ Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

¹² And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

¹³ As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

¹⁴ And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

¹⁵ Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

¹⁶ The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

¹⁷ When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

¹⁸ As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

¹⁹ And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

²⁰ Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²¹ When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²² And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

²³ And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

²⁴ And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁵ And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

²⁶ And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

²⁷ And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

²⁸ As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

⁵ Also out of the midst ^H8432 thereof came the likeness ^H1823 of four ^H702 living creatures. ^H2416 And this was their appearance; ^H4758 they ^H2007 had the likeness ^H1823 of a man. ^H120

¹⁴ And the living creatures ^H2416 ran ^H7519 and returned ^H7725 as the appearance ^H4758 of a flash of lightning. ^H965

¹⁶ The appearance ^H4758 of the wheels ^H212 and their work ^H4639 was like unto the colour ^H5869 of a beryl: ^H8658 and they four ^H702 had one ^H259 likeness: ^H1823 and their appearance ^H4758 and their work ^H4639 was as it were a wheel ^H212 in the middle ^H8432 of a wheel. ^H212

¹⁷ When they went, ^H3212 they went ^H3212 upon their four ^H702 sides: ^H7253 and they turned ^H5437 not when they went. ^H3212

²⁶ And above ^H4605 the firmament ^H7549 that was over their heads ^H7218 was the likeness ^H1823 of a throne, ^H3678 as the appearance ^H4758 of a sapphire ^H5601 stone: ^H68 and upon the likeness ^H1823 of the throne ^H3678 was the likeness ^H1823 as the appearance ^H4758 of a man ^H120 above ^H4605 upon it.

²⁷ And I saw ^H7200 as the colour ^H5869 of amber, ^H2830 as the appearance ^H4758 of fire ^H784 round about ^H5439 within ^H1004 it, from the appearance ^H4758 of his loins ^H4975 even upward, ^H4605 and from the appearance ^H4758 of his loins ^H4975 even downward, ^H4295 I saw ^H7200 as it were the appearance ^H4758 of fire, ^H784 and it had brightness ^H5051 round about. ^H5439

²⁸ As the appearance ^H4758 of the bow ^H7198 that is in the cloud ^H6051 in the day ^H3117 of rain, ^H1653 so was the appearance ^H4758 of the brightness ^H5051 round about. ^H5439 This was the appearance ^H4758 of the likeness ^H1823 of the glory ^H3519 of the LORD. ^H3068 And when I saw ^H7200 it, I fell ^H5307 upon my face, ^H6440 and I heard ^H8085 a voice ^H6963 of one that spake. ^H1696

⁷ and their feet `are' straight feet, and the sole of their feet `is' as a sole of a calf's foot, and they are sparkling as the colour of bright brass;

⁸ and hands of man under their wings -- on their four sides, and their faces and their wings -- `are' to them four;

⁹ joining one unto another `are' their wings, they turn not round in their going, each straight forward they go.

¹⁰ As to the likeness of their faces, the face of a man, and the face of a lion, toward the right `are' to them four, and the face of an ox on the left `are' to them four, and the face of an eagle `are' to them four.

¹⁶ The appearance of the wheels and their works `is' as the colour of beryl, and one likeness `is' to them four, and their appearances and their works `are' as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel.

¹⁷ On their four sides, in their going they go, they turn not round in their going.

¹⁸ As to their rings, they are both high and fearful, and their rings `are' full of eyes round about them four.

¹⁹ And in the going of the living creatures, the wheels go beside them, and in the living creatures being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels.

²⁰ Whither the spirit is to go, they go, thither the spirit `is' to go, and the wheels are lifted up over-against them, for a living spirit `is' in the wheels.

²¹ In their going, they go; and in their standing, they stand; and in their being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels over-against them; for a living spirit `is' in the wheels.

²² And a likeness `is' over the heads of the living creatures of an expanse, as the colour of the fearful ice, stretched out over their heads from above.

²³ And under the expanse their wings `are' straight, one toward the other, to each are two covering on this side, and to each are two covering on that side -- their bodies.

²⁴ And I hear the noise of their wings, as the noise of many waters, as the noise of the Mighty One, in their going -- the noise of tumult, as the noise of a camp, in their standing they let fall their wings.

²⁵ And there is a voice from above the expanse, that `is' above their head: in their standing they let fall their wings.

²⁶ And above the expanse that `is' over their head, as an appearance of a sapphire stone, `is' the likeness of a throne, and on the likeness of the throne a likeness, as the appearance of man upon it from above.

²⁷ And I see as the colour of copper, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I have seen as the appearance of fire, and brightness `is' to it round about.

¹⁹ When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

²⁰ Wherever the spirit was to go, they went; there was the spirit to go: and the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²¹ When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²² Over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of an expanse, like the awesome crystal to look on, stretched forth over their heads above.

²³ Under the expanse were their wings straight, the one toward the other: everyone had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side, their bodies.

²⁴ When they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁵ There was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads: when they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁶ Above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire{or, lapis lazuli} stone; and on the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.

²⁷ I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward; and from the appearance of his loins and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness round about him.

²⁸ As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Yahweh. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.

¹ Now it came about in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, while I was by the river Chebar among those who had been made prisoners, that the heavens were made open and I saw visions of God.

² On the fifth day of the month, in the fifth year after King Jehoiachin had been made a prisoner,

³ The word of the Lord came to me, Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldaeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was on me there.

⁴ And, looking, I saw a storm-wind coming out of the north, a great cloud with flames of fire coming after one another, and a bright light shining round about it and in the heart of it was something coloured like electrum.

⁵ And in the heart of it were the forms of four living beings. And this was what they were like; they had the form of a man.

⁶ And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.

⁷ And their feet were straight feet; and the under sides of their feet were like the feet of oxen; and they were shining like polished brass.

⁸ And they had the hands of a man under their wings; the four of them had faces on their four sides.

⁹ They went without turning, every one went straight forward.

¹⁰ As for the form of their faces, they had the face of a man, and the four of them had the face of a lion on the right side, and the four of them had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four of them had the face of an eagle.

¹¹ And their wings were separate at the top; two of the wings of every one were joined one to another, and two were covering their bodies.

¹² Every one of them went straight forward; wherever the spirit was to go they went; they went on without turning.

¹³ And between the living beings it was like burning coals of fire, as if flames were going one after the other between the living beings; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went thunder-flames.

¹⁴ And the living beings went out and came back as quickly as a thunder-flame.

¹⁵ Now while I was looking at the four living beings, I saw one wheel on the earth, by the side of the living beings, for the four of them.

¹⁶ The form of the wheels and their work was like a beryl; the four of them had the same form and design, and they were like a wheel inside a wheel.

¹⁷ The four of them went straight forward without turning to one side.

¹⁸ And I saw that they had edges, and their edges, even of the four, were full of eyes round about.

¹⁹ And when the living beings went on, the wheels went by their side; and when the living beings were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

²⁰ Wherever the spirit was to go they went; and the wheels were lifted up by their side: for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.

²¹ When these went on, the others went; and when these came to rest, the others came to rest; and when these were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up by their side: for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.

²² And over the heads of the living beings there was the form of an arch, looking like ice, stretched out over their heads on high.

²³ Under the arch their wings were straight, one stretched out to another: every one had two wings covering their bodies on this side and two covering their bodies on that side.

²⁴ And when they went, the sound of their wings was like the sound of great waters to my ears, like the voice of the Ruler of all, a sound like the rushing of an army: when they came to rest they let down their wings.

²⁵ And there was a voice from the top of the arch which was over their heads: when they came to rest they let down their wings.

²⁶ And on the top of the arch which was over their heads was the form of a king's seat, like a sapphire stone; and on the form of the seat was the form of a man seated on it on high.

²⁷ And I saw it coloured like electrum, with the look of fire in it and round it, going up from what seemed to be the middle of his body; and going down from what seemed to be the middle of his body I saw what was like fire, and there was a bright light shining round him.

²⁸ Like the bow in the cloud on a day of rain, so was the light shining round him. And this is what the glory of the Lord was like. And when I saw it I went down on my face, and the voice of one talking came to my ears.
