7 Little children, G5040 let G4105 no man G3367 deceive G4105 you: G5209 he that doeth G4160 righteousness G1343 is G2076 righteous, G1342 even as G2531 he G1565 is G2076 righteous. G1342
But G235 as G2596 he which hath called G2564 you G5209 is holy, G40 so G2532 be G1096 ye G846 holy G40 in G1722 all G3956 manner of conversation; G391 Because G1360 it is written, G1125 Be ye G1096 holy; G40 for G3754 I G1473 am G1510 holy. G40
[[A Psalm for Solomon.]] H8010 Give H5414 the king H4428 thy judgments, H4941 O God, H430 and thy righteousness H6666 unto the king's H4428 son. H1121 He shall judge H1777 thy people H5971 with righteousness, H6664 and thy poor H6041 with judgment. H4941 The mountains H2022 shall bring H5375 peace H7965 to the people, H5971 and the little hills, H1389 by righteousness. H6666 He shall judge H8199 the poor H6041 of the people, H5971 he shall save H3467 the children H1121 of the needy, H34 and shall break in pieces H1792 the oppressor. H6231 They shall fear H3372 thee as long as H5973 the sun H8121 and moon H3394 endure, H6440 throughout all H1755 generations. H1755 He shall come down H3381 like rain H4306 upon the mown H1488 grass: as showers H7241 that water H2222 the earth. H776 In his days H3117 shall the righteous H6662 flourish; H6524 and abundance H7230 of peace H7965 so long as the moon H3394 endureth.
Be G4105 not G3361 deceived; G4105 God G2316 is G3456 not G3756 mocked: G3456 for G1063 whatsoever G3739 G1437 a man G444 soweth, G4687 that G5124 shall he G2325 also G2532 reap. G2325 For G3754 he that soweth G4687 to G1519 his G1438 flesh G4561 shall G2325 of G1537 the flesh G4561 reap G2325 corruption; G5356 but G1161 he that soweth G4687 to G1519 the Spirit G4151 shall G2325 of G1537 the Spirit G4151 reap G2325 life G2222 everlasting. G166
Know ye G1492 not, G3756 that G3754 to whom G3739 ye yield G3936 yourselves G1438 servants G1401 to G1519 obey, G5218 his servants G1401 ye are G2075 to whom G3739 ye obey; G5219 whether G2273 of sin G266 unto G1519 death, G2288 or G2228 of obedience G5218 unto G1519 righteousness? G1343 But G1161 God G2316 be thanked, G5485 that G3754 ye were G2258 the servants G1401 of sin, G266 but G1161 ye have obeyed G5219 from G1537 the heart G2588 that form G5179 of doctrine G1322 which G1519 G3739 was delivered you. G3860 Being G1659 then G1161 made free G1659 from G575 sin, G266 ye became the servants G1402 of righteousness. G1343
Who G3739 will render G591 to every man G1538 according G2596 to his G846 deeds: G2041 To them who by G3303 G2596 patient continuance G5281 in well G18 doing G2041 seek G2212 for glory G1391 and G2532 honour G5092 and G2532 immortality, G861 eternal G166 life: G2222 But G1161 unto them that are contentious, G1537 G2052 and G2532 do not obey G544 G3303 the truth, G225 but G1161 obey G3982 unrighteousness, G93 indignation G2372 and G2532 wrath, G3709
But if a man H376 be just, H6662 and do H6213 that which is lawful H4941 and right, H6666 And hath not eaten H398 upon the mountains, H2022 neither hath lifted up H5375 his eyes H5869 to the idols H1544 of the house H1004 of Israel, H3478 neither hath defiled H2930 his neighbour's H7453 wife, H802 neither hath come near H7126 to a menstruous H5079 woman, H802 And hath not oppressed H3238 any, H376 but hath restored H7725 to the debtor H2326 his pledge, H2258 hath spoiled H1497 none by violence, H1500 hath given H5414 his bread H3899 to the hungry, H7457 and hath covered H3680 the naked H5903 with a garment; H899 He that hath not given forth H5414 upon usury, H5392 neither hath taken H3947 any increase, H8636 that hath withdrawn H7725 his hand H3027 from iniquity, H5766 hath executed H6213 true H571 judgment H4941 between man H376 and man, H376 Hath walked H1980 in my statutes, H2708 and hath kept H8104 my judgments, H4941 to deal H6213 truly; H571 he is just, H6662 he shall surely H2421 live, H2421 saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD. 1Jo 3:4-10
The apostle, having alleged the believer's obligation to purity from his hope of heaven, and of communion with Christ in glory at the day of his appearance, now proceeds to fill his own mouth and the believer's mind with multiplied arguments against sin, and all communion with the impure unfruitful works of darkness. And so he reasons and argues,

The apostle, having intimated that one mark of the devil's children is hatred of the brethren, takes occasion thence,
1Jo 3:14-19
The beloved apostle can scarcely touch upon the mention of sacred love, but he must enlarge upon the enforcement of it, as here he does by divers arguments and incentives thereto; as,
