4 And Ahab H256 came H935 into his house H1004 heavy H5620 and displeased H2198 because of the word H1697 which Naboth H5022 the Jezreelite H3158 had spoken H1696 to him: for he had said, H559 I will not give H5414 thee the inheritance H5159 of my fathers. H1 And he laid him down H7901 upon his bed, H4296 and turned away H5437 his face, H6440 and would eat H398 no bread. H3899
But unto Cain H7014 and to his offering H4503 he had not respect. H8159 And Cain H7014 was very H3966 wroth, H2734 and his countenance H6440 fell. H5307 And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Cain, H7014 Why art thou wroth? H2734 and why is thy countenance H6440 fallen? H5307 If H518 thou doest well, H3190 shalt thou not be accepted? H7613 and if thou doest not well, H3190 sin H2403 lieth H7257 at the door. H6607 And unto thee shall be his desire, H8669 and thou shalt rule H4910 over him. And Cain H7014 talked H559 with H413 Abel H1893 his brother: H251 and it came to pass, when they were in the field, H7704 that Cain H7014 rose up H6965 against H413 Abel H1893 his brother, H251 and slew him. H2026
And Balaam H1109 rose up H6965 in the morning, H1242 and said H559 unto the princes H8269 of Balak, H1111 Get H3212 you into your land: H776 for the LORD H3068 refuseth H3985 to give me leave H5414 to go H1980 with you. And the princes H8269 of Moab H4124 rose up, H6965 and they went H935 unto Balak, H1111 and said, H559 Balaam H1109 refuseth H3985 to come H1980 with us.
Better H2896 is the end H319 of a thing H1697 than the beginning H7225 thereof: and the patient H750 in spirit H7307 is better H2896 than the proud H1362 in spirit. H7307 Be not hasty H926 in thy spirit H7307 to be angry: H3707 for anger H3708 resteth H5117 in the bosom H2436 of fools. H3684
But the wicked H7563 are like the troubled H1644 sea, H3220 when it cannot H3201 rest, H8252 whose waters H4325 cast up H1644 mire H7516 and dirt. H2916 There is no peace, H7965 saith H559 my God, H430 to the wicked. H7563
Woe H1945 to him that coveteth H1214 an evil H7451 covetousness H1215 to his house, H1004 that he may set H7760 his nest H7064 on high, H4791 that he may be delivered H5337 from the power H3709 of evil! H7451 Thou hast consulted H3289 shame H1322 to thy house H1004 by cutting off H7096 many H7227 people, H5971 and hast sinned H2398 against thy soul. H5315 For the stone H68 shall cry out H2199 of the wall, H7023 and the beam out H3714 of the timber H6086 shall answer H6030 it. Woe H1945 to him that buildeth H1129 a town H5892 with blood, H1818 and stablisheth H3559 a city H7151 by iniquity! H5766

Chapter 21
Ahab is still the unhappy subject of the sacred history; from the great affairs of his camp and kingdom this chapter leads us into his garden, and gives us an account of some ill things (and ill indeed they proved to him) relating to his domestic affairs.
