12 For G3754 the eyes G3788 of the Lord G2962 are over G1909 the righteous, G1342 and G2532 his G846 ears G3775 are open unto G1519 their G846 prayers: G1162 but G1161 the face G4383 of the Lord G2962 is against G1909 them that do G4160 evil. G2556
Now G1161 we know G1492 that G3754 God G2316 heareth G191 not G3756 sinners: G268 but G235 if G1437 any man G5100 be G5600 a worshipper of God, G2318 and G2532 doeth G4160 his G846 will, G2307 him G5127 he heareth. G191
The LORD H3068 is far H7350 from the wicked: H7563 but he heareth H8085 the prayer H8605 of the righteous. H6662
The sacrifice H2077 of the wicked H7563 is an abomination H8441 to the LORD: H3068 but the prayer H8605 of the upright H3477 is his delight. H7522
It is burned H8313 with fire, H784 it is cut down: H3683 they perish H6 at the rebuke H1606 of thy countenance. H6440
For who hath despised H936 the day H3117 of small things? H6996 for they shall rejoice, H8055 and shall see H7200 the plummet H68 H913 in the hand H3027 of Zerubbabel H2216 with those seven; H7651 they are the eyes H5869 of the LORD, H3068 which run to and fro H7751 through the whole earth. H776
For I have set H7760 my face H6440 against this city H5892 for evil, H7451 and not for good, H2896 saith H5002 the LORD: H3068 it shall be given H5414 into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall burn H8313 it with fire. H784
And whatsoever man H376 there be of the house H1004 of Israel, H3478 or of the strangers H1616 that sojourn H1481 among H8432 you, that eateth H398 any manner of blood; H1818 I will even set H5414 my face H6440 against that soul H5315 that eateth H398 blood, H1818 and will cut him off H3772 from among H7130 his people. H5971
The LORD H3068 is in his holy H6944 temple, H1964 the LORD'S H3068 throne H3678 is in heaven: H8064 his eyes H5869 behold, H2372 his eyelids H6079 try, H974 the children H1121 of men. H120
For the eyes H5869 of the LORD H3068 run to and fro H7751 throughout the whole earth, H776 to shew himself strong H2388 in the behalf of them whose heart H3824 is perfect H8003 toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: H5528 therefore from henceforth H6258 thou shalt have H3426 wars. H4421
A land H776 which the LORD H3068 thy God H430 careth for: H1875 the eyes H5869 of the LORD H3068 thy God H430 are always H8548 upon it, from the beginning H7225 of the year H8141 even unto the end H319 of the year. H8141
And I will set H5414 my face H6440 against you, and ye shall be slain H5062 before H6440 your enemies: H341 they that hate H8130 you shall reign H7287 over you; and ye shall flee H5127 when none pursueth H7291 you.

Commentary on 1 Peter 3 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 3
Wherein the apostle describes the duties of husbands and wives one to another, beginning with the duty of the wife (v. 1-7). He exhorts Christians to unity, love, compassion, peace, and patience under sufferings; to oppose the slanders of their enemies, not by returning evil for evil, or railing for railing, but by blessing; by a ready account of their faith and hope, and by keeping a good conscience (v. 8-17). To encourage them to this, he proposes the example of Christ, who suffered, the just for the unjust, but yet punished the old world for their disobedience, and saved the few who were faithful in the days of Noah (v. 18-22).
1Pe 3:1-7
The apostle having treated of the duties of subjects to their sovereigns, and of servants to their masters, proceeds to explain the duty of husbands and wives.
1Pe 3:8-15
The apostle here passes from special to more general exhortations.
1Pe 3:16-17
The confession of a Christian's faith cannot credibly be supported but by the two means here specified-a good conscience and a good conversation. conscience is good when it does its office well, when it is kept pure and uncorrupt, and clear from guilt; then it will justify you, though men accuse you. A good conversation in Christ is a holy life, according to the doctrine and example of Christ. "Look well to your conscience, and to your conversation; and then, though men speak evil of you, and falsely accuse you as evil-doers, you will clear yourselves, and bring them to shame. Perhaps you may think it hard to suffer for well-doing, for keeping a good conscience and a good conversation; but be not discouraged, for it is better for you, though worse for your enemies, that you suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing.' 1Pe 3:21-22
Noah's salvation in the ark upon the water prefigured the salvation of all good Christians in the church by baptism; that temporal salvation by the ark was a type, the antitype whereunto is the eternal salvation of believers by baptism, to prevent mistakes about which the apostle,
