6 And Jonathan H3083 said H559 to the young man H5288 that bare H5375 his armour, H3627 Come, H3212 and let us go over H5674 unto the garrison H4673 of these uncircumcised: H6189 it may be that the LORD H3068 will work H6213 for us: for there is no restraint H4622 to the LORD H3068 to save H3467 by many H7227 or by few. H4592
But G1161 Jesus G2424 beheld G1689 them, and said G2036 unto them, G846 With G3844 men G444 this G5124 is G2076 impossible; G102 but G1161 with G3844 God G2316 all things G3956 are G2076 possible. G1415
Egypt, H4714 and Judah, H3063 and Edom, H123 and the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 and Moab, H4124 and all that are in the utmost H7112 corners, H6285 that dwell H3427 in the wilderness: H4057 for all these nations H1471 are uncircumcised, H6189 and all the house H1004 of Israel H3478 are uncircumcised H6189 in the heart. H3820
Not unto us, O LORD, H3068 not unto us, but unto thy name H8034 give H5414 glory, H3519 for thy mercy, H2617 and for thy truth's H571 sake. Wherefore should the heathen H1471 say, H559 Where is now their God? H430 But our God H430 is in the heavens: H8064 he hath done H6213 whatsoever he hath pleased. H2654
And Asa H609 cried H7121 unto the LORD H3068 his God, H430 and said, H559 LORD, H3068 it is nothing with thee to help, H5826 whether H996 with many, H7227 or with them that have no power: H3581 help H5826 us, O LORD H3068 our God; H430 for we rest H8172 on thee, and in thy name H8034 we go H935 against this multitude. H1995 O LORD, H3068 thou art our God; H430 let not man H582 prevail H6113 against thee.
And David H1732 spake H559 to the men H582 that stood H5975 by him, saying, H559 What shall be done H6213 to the man H376 that killeth H5221 this H1975 Philistine, H6430 and taketh away H5493 the reproach H2781 from Israel? H3478 for who is this uncircumcised H6189 Philistine, H6430 that he should defy H2778 the armies H4634 of the living H2416 God? H430
Seek H1245 ye the LORD, H3068 all ye meek H6035 of the earth, H776 which have wrought H6466 his judgment; H4941 seek H1245 righteousness, H6664 seek H1245 meekness: H6038 it may be H194 ye shall be hid H5641 in the day H3117 of the LORD'S H3068 anger. H639
Thus saith H559 the LORD, H3068 Let not the wise H2450 man glory H1984 in his wisdom, H2451 neither let the mighty H1368 man glory H1984 in his might, H1369 let not the rich H6223 man glory H1984 in his riches: H6239
It may be H194 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 will hear H8085 all the words H1697 of Rabshakeh, H7262 whom the king H4428 of Assyria H804 his master H113 hath sent H7971 to reproach H2778 the living H2416 God; H430 and will reprove H3198 the words H1697 which the LORD H3068 thy God H430 hath heard: H8085 wherefore lift up H5375 thy prayer H8605 for the remnant H7611 that are left. H4672
It may be that the LORD H3068 will look H7200 on mine affliction, H5869 H6040 and that the LORD H3068 will requite H7725 me good H2896 for his cursing H7045 this day. H3117
And he was sore H3966 athirst, H6770 and called H7121 on the LORD, H3068 and said, H559 Thou hast given H5414 this great H1419 deliverance H8668 into the hand H3027 of thy servant: H5650 and now shall I die H4191 for thirst, H6772 and fall H5307 into the hand H3027 of the uncircumcised? H6189
And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Gideon, H1439 The people H5971 are yet too many; H7227 bring them down H3381 unto the water, H4325 and I will try H6884 them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say H559 unto thee, This shall go H3212 with thee, the same shall go H3212 with thee; and of whomsoever I say H559 unto thee, This shall not go H3212 with thee, the same shall not go. H3212 So he brought down H3381 the people H5971 unto the water: H4325 and the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Gideon, H1439 Every one that lappeth H3952 of the water H4325 with his tongue, H3956 as a dog H3611 lappeth, H3952 him shalt thou set H3322 by himself; likewise every one that boweth down H3766 upon his knees H1290 to drink. H8354 And the number H4557 of them that lapped, H3952 putting their hand H3027 to their mouth, H6310 were three H7969 hundred H3967 men: H376 but all the rest H3499 of the people H5971 bowed down H3766 upon their knees H1290 to drink H8354 water. H4325 And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Gideon, H1439 By the three H7969 hundred H3967 men H376 that lapped H3952 will I save H3467 you, and deliver H5414 the Midianites H4080 into thine hand: H3027 and let all the other people H5971 go H3212 every man H376 unto his place. H4725
And I will establish H6965 my covenant H1285 between me and thee and thy seed H2233 after thee H310 in their generations H1755 for an everlasting H5769 covenant, H1285 to be a God H430 unto thee, and to thy seed H2233 after thee. H310 And I will give H5414 unto thee, and to thy seed H2233 after thee, H310 the land H776 wherein thou art a stranger, H4033 all the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 for an everlasting H5769 possession; H272 and I will be their God. H430 And God H430 said H559 unto Abraham, H85 Thou shalt keep H8104 my covenant H1285 therefore, thou, and thy seed H2233 after thee H310 in their generations. H1755 This is my covenant, H1285 which ye shall keep, H8104 between me and you and thy seed H2233 after thee; H310 Every man child H2145 among you shall be circumcised. H4135 And ye shall circumcise H5243 the flesh H1320 of your foreskin; H6190 and it shall be a token H226 of the covenant H1285 betwixt me and you.
Wherefore G1352 remember, G3421 that G3754 ye G5210 being in time past G4218 Gentiles G1484 in G1722 the flesh, G4561 who G3588 are called G3004 Uncircumcision G203 by G5259 that which G3588 is called G3004 the Circumcision G4061 in G1722 the flesh G4561 made by hands; G5499 That G3754 at G1722 that G1565 time G2540 ye were G2258 without G5565 Christ, G5547 being aliens G526 from the commonwealth G4174 of Israel, G2474 and G2532 strangers G3581 from the covenants G1242 of promise, G1860 having G2192 no G3361 hope, G1680 and G2532 without God G112 in G1722 the world: G2889

Commentary on 1 Samuel 14 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 14
We left the host of Israel in a very ill posture, in the close of the foregoing chapter; we saw in them no wisdom, nor strength, nor goodness, to give us ground to expect any other than that they should all be cut off by the army of the Philistines; yet here we find that infinite power which works without means, and that infinite goodness which gives without merit, glorified in a happy turn to their affairs, that still Samuel's words may be made good: "The Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake,' (ch. 12:22). In this chapter we have,
1Sa 14:1-15
We must here take notice,
1Sa 14:16-23
We have here the prosecution and improvement of the wonderful advantages which Jonathan and his armour-bearer gained against the Philistines.
1Sa 14:24-35
We have here an account of the distress of the children of Israel, even in the day of their triumphs. Such alloys are all present joys subject to. And such obstructions does many a good cause meet with, even when it seems most prosperous, through the mismanagement of instruments.
1Sa 14:36-46
Here is,
1Sa 14:47-52
Here is a general account of Saul's court and camp.
