13 And Samuel H8050 came H935 to Saul: H7586 and Saul H7586 said H559 unto him, Blessed H1288 be thou of the LORD: H3068 I have performed H6965 the commandment H1697 of the LORD. H3068
And he blessed H1288 him, and said, H559 Blessed H1288 be Abram H87 of the most high H5945 God, H410 possessor H7069 of heaven H8064 and earth: H776
And he said H559 unto his mother, H517 The eleven hundred H505 H3967 shekels of silver H3701 that were taken H3947 from thee, about which thou cursedst, H422 and spakest H559 of also in mine ears, H241 behold, the silver H3701 is with me; I took H3947 it. And his mother H517 said, H559 Blessed H1288 be thou of the LORD, H3068 my son. H1121
And the man H120 said, H559 The woman H802 whom thou gavest H5414 to be with me, H5978 she H1931 gave H5414 me of the tree, H6086 and I did eat. H398
And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end H3615 of offering H5927 the burnt offering, H5930 behold, Samuel H8050 came; H935 and Saul H7586 went out H3318 to meet H7125 him, that he might salute H1288 him.
But Saul H7586 and the people H5971 spared H2550 Agag, H90 and the best H4315 of the sheep, H6629 and of the oxen, H1241 and of the fatlings, H4932 and the lambs, H3733 and all that was good, H2896 and would H14 not utterly destroy H2763 them: but every thing H4399 that was vile H5240 and refuse, H4549 that they destroyed utterly. H2763
It repenteth H5162 me that I have set up H4427 Saul H7586 to be king: H4428 for he is turned back H7725 from following H310 me, and hath not performed H6965 my commandments. H1697 And it grieved H2734 Samuel; H8050 and he cried H2199 unto the LORD H3068 all night. H3915
There is a generation, H1755 O how lofty H7311 are their eyes! H5869 and their eyelids H6079 are lifted up. H5375
Give H5414 her of the fruit H6529 of her hands; H3027 and let her own works H4639 praise H1984 her in the gates. H8179
The Pharisee G5330 stood G2476 and prayed G4336 thus G5023 with G4314 himself, G1438 God, G2316 I thank G2168 thee, G4671 that G3754 I am G1510 not G3756 as G5618 other G3062 men G444 are, extortioners, G727 unjust, G94 adulterers, G3432 or G2228 even G2532 as G5613 this G3778 publican. G5057

Commentary on 1 Samuel 15 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 15
In this chapter we have the final rejection of Saul from being king, for his disobedience to God's command in not utterly destroying the Amalekites. By his wars and victories he hoped to magnify and perpetuate his own name and honour, but, by his mismanagement of them, he ruined himself, and laid his honour in the dust. Here is,
1Sa 15:1-9
Here,
1Sa 15:10-23
Saul is here called to account by Samuel concerning the execution of his commission against the Amalekites; and remarkable instances we are here furnished with of the strictness of the justice of God and the treachery and deceitfulness of the heart of man. We are here told,
1Sa 15:24-31
Saul is at length brought to put himself into the dress of the penitent; but it is too evident that he only acts the part of a penitent, and is not one indeed. Observe,
1Sa 15:32-35
Samuel, as a prophet, is here set over kings, Jer. 1:10.
