1 But G1161 of G4012 the times G5550 and G2532 the seasons, G2540 brethren, G80 ye have G2192 no G3756 need G5532 that I write G1125 unto you. G5213
And G1161 he said G2036 unto G4314 them, G846 It is G2076 not G3756 for you G5216 to know G1097 the times G5550 or G2228 the seasons, G2540 which G3739 the Father G3962 hath put G5087 in G1722 his own G2398 power. G1849
But G1161 as touching G4012 brotherly love G5360 ye need G2192 G5532 not G3756 that I write G1125 unto you: G5213 for G1063 ye G5210 yourselves G846 are G2075 taught of God G2312 to G1519 love G25 one another. G240
And G1161 as he G846 sat G2521 upon G1909 the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 the disciples G3101 came G4334 unto him G846 privately, G2596 G2398 saying, G3004 Tell G2036 us, G2254 when G4219 shall G2071 these things G5023 be? G2071 and G2532 what G5101 shall be the sign G4592 of thy G4674 coming, G3952 and G2532 of the end G4930 of the world? G165
But G1161 of G4012 that G1565 day G2250 and G2532 hour G5610 knoweth G1492 no G3762 man, no, not G3761 the angels G32 of heaven, G3772 but G1508 my G3450 Father G3962 only. G3441
Verily G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 that G3754 this G3778 generation G1074 shall G3928 not G3364 pass, G3928 till G3360 G3739 all G3956 these things G5023 be done. G1096 Heaven G3772 and G2532 earth G1093 shall pass away: G3928 but G1161 my G3450 words G3056 shall G3928 not G3364 pass away. G3928 But G1161 of G4012 that G1565 day G2250 and G2532 that hour G5610 knoweth G1492 no man, G3762 no, not G3761 the angels G32 which G3588 are in G1722 heaven, G3772 neither G3761 the Son, G5207 but G1508 the Father. G3962
Beloved, G27 when I gave G4160 all G3956 diligence G4710 to write G1125 unto you G5213 of G4012 the common G2839 salvation, G4991 it was G2192 needful G318 for me G2192 to write G1125 unto you, G5213 and exhort G3870 you that ye should earnestly contend G1864 for the faith G4102 which was once G530 delivered G3860 unto the saints. Commentary on 1 Thessalonians 5 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 5
The apostle, having spoken in the end of the foregoing chapter concerning the resurrection, and the second coming of Christ, proceeds to speak concerning the uselessness of enquiring after the particular time of Christ's coming, which would be sudden and terrible to the wicked, but comfortable to the saints (v. 1-5). He then exhorts them to the duties of watchfulness, sobriety, and the exercise of faith, love, and hope, as being suitable to their state (v. 6-10). In the next words he exhorts them to several duties they owed to others, or to one another (v. 11-15), afterwards to several other Christian duties of great importance (v. 16-22), and then concludes this epistle (v. 23-28).

1Th 5:16-22
Here we have divers short exhortations, that will not burden our memories, but will be of great use to direct the motions of our hearts and lives; for the duties are of great importance, and we may observe how they are connected together, and have a dependence upon one another.
