23 Drink G5202 no longer G3371 water, G5202 but G235 use G5530 a little G3641 wine G3631 for G1223 thy G4675 stomach's sake G4751 and G2532 thine G4675 often G4437 infirmities. G769
And wine H3196 that maketh glad H8055 the heart H3824 of man, H582 and oil H8081 to make his face H6440 to shine, H6670 and bread H3899 which strengtheneth H5582 man's H582 heart. H3824
Likewise G5615 must the deacons G1249 be grave, G4586 not G3361 doubletongued, G1351 not G3361 given G4337 to much G4183 wine, G3631 not G3361 greedy of filthy lucre; G146
It is not for kings, H4428 O Lemuel, H3927 it is not for kings H4428 to drink H8354 wine; H3196 nor for H335 H176 princes H7336 strong drink: H7941 Lest they drink, H8354 and forget H7911 the law, H2710 and pervert H8138 the judgment H1779 of any of the afflicted. The aged women G4247 likewise, G5615 that they be in G1722 behaviour G2688 as becometh holiness, G2412 not G3361 false accusers, G1228 not G3361 given G1402 to much G4183 wine, G3631 teachers of good things; G2567
Do not drink H8354 wine H3196 nor strong drink, H7941 thou, nor thy sons H1121 with thee, when ye go H935 into the tabernacle H168 of the congregation, H4150 lest ye die: H4191 it shall be a statute H2708 for ever H5769 throughout your generations: H1755 And that ye may put difference H914 between holy H6944 and unholy, H2455 and between unclean H2931 and clean; H2889 And that ye may teach H3384 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 all the statutes H2706 which the LORD H3068 hath spoken H1696 unto them by the hand H3027 of Moses. Honour them, that is, maintain them, admit them into office. There was in those times an office in the church in which widows were employed, and that was to tend the sick and the aged, to look to them by the direction of the deacons. We read of the care taken of widows immediately upon the first forming of the Christian church (Acts 6:1), where the Grecians thought their widows were neglected in the daily ministration and provision made for poor widows. The general rule is to honour widows that are widows indeed, to maintain them, to relieve them with respect and tenderness.
