4 And he sacrificed H2076 and burnt incense H6999 in the high places, H1116 and on the hills, H1389 and under every green H7488 tree. H6086
Ye shall utterly H6 destroy H6 all the places, H4725 wherein the nations H1471 which H834 ye shall possess H3423 served H5647 their gods, H430 upon the high H7311 mountains, H2022 and upon the hills, H1389 and under every green H7488 tree: H6086
Enflaming H2552 yourselves with idols H410 under every green H7488 tree, H6086 slaying H7819 the children H3206 in the valleys H5158 under the clifts H5585 of the rocks? H5553 Among the smooth H2511 stones of the stream H5158 is thy portion; H2506 they, they are thy lot: H1486 even to them hast thou poured H8210 a drink offering, H5262 thou hast offered H5927 a meat offering. H4503 Should I receive comfort H5162 in these? Upon a lofty H1364 and high H5375 mountain H2022 hast thou set H7760 thy bed: H4904 even thither wentest thou up H5927 to offer H2076 sacrifice. H2077
Which remain H3427 among the graves, H6913 and lodge H3885 in the monuments, H5341 which eat H398 swine's H2386 flesh, H1320 and broth H4839 H6564 of abominable H6292 things is in their vessels; H3627
They that sanctify H6942 themselves, and purify H2891 themselves in the gardens H1593 behind H310 one H259 tree in the midst, H8432 eating H398 swine's H2386 flesh, H1320 and the abomination, H8263 and the mouse, H5909 shall be consumed H5486 together, H3162 saith H5002 the LORD. H3068
Whilst their children H1121 remember H2142 their altars H4196 and their groves H842 by the green H7488 trees H6086 upon the high H1364 hills. H1389
For when I had brought H935 them into the land, H776 for the which I lifted up H5375 mine hand H3027 to give H5414 it to them, then they saw H7200 every high H7311 hill, H1389 and all the thick H5687 trees, H6086 and they offered H2076 there their sacrifices, H2077 and there they presented H5414 the provocation H3708 of their offering: H7133 there also they made H7760 their sweet H5207 savour, H7381 and poured out H5258 there their drink offerings. H5262 Then I said H559 unto them, What is the high place H1116 whereunto ye go? H935 And the name H8034 thereof is called H7121 Bamah H1117 unto this day. H3117

Chapter 16
This chapter is wholly taken up with the reign of Ahaz; and we have quite enough of it, unless it were better. He had a good father, and a better son, and yet was himself one of the worst of the kings of Judah.
2Ki 16:1-4
We have here a general character of the reign of Ahaz. Few and evil were his days-few, for he died at thirty-six-evil, for we are here told,
2Ki 16:5-9
Here is,
2Ki 16:10-16
Though Ahaz had himself sacrificed in high places, on hills, and under every green tree (v. 4), yet God's altar had hitherto continued in its place and in use, and the king's burnt-offering and his meat-offering (v. 15) had been offered upon it by the priests that attended it; but here we have it taken away by wicked Ahaz, and another altar, an idolatrous one, put in the room of it-a bolder stroke than the worst of the kings had yet given to religion. We have here,
