9 And Isaiah H3470 said, H559 This sign H226 shalt thou have of the LORD, H3068 that the LORD H3068 will do H6213 the thing H1697 that he hath spoken: H1696 shall the shadow H6738 go forward H1980 ten H6235 degrees, H4609 or go back H7725 ten H6235 degrees? H4609
And this shall be a sign H226 unto thee from the LORD, H3068 that the LORD H3068 will do H6213 this thing H1697 that he hath spoken; H1696 Behold, I will bring again H7725 the shadow H6738 of the degrees, H4609 which is gone down H3381 in the sun H8121 dial H4609 of Ahaz, H271 ten H6235 degrees H4609 backward. H322 So the sun H8121 returned H7725 ten H6235 degrees, H4609 by which degrees H4609 it was gone down. H3381
The Pharisees G5330 also G2532 with the Sadducees G4523 came, G4334 and G2532 tempting G3985 desired G1905 him G846 that he would shew G1925 them G846 a sign G4592 from G1537 heaven. G3772 G1161 He answered G611 and said G2036 unto them, G846 When it is G1096 evening, G3798 ye say, G3004 It will be fair weather: G2105 for G1063 the sky G3772 is red. G4449 And G2532 in the morning, G4404 It will be foul weather G5494 to day: G4594 for G1063 the sky G3772 is red G4449 and lowring. G4768 O ye hypocrites, G5273 ye can G1097 discern G1252 G3303 the face G4383 of the sky; G3772 but G1161 can ye G1410 not G3756 discern the signs G4592 of the times? G2540 A wicked G4190 and G2532 adulterous G3428 generation G1074 seeketh after G1934 a sign; G4592 and G2532 there shall no G3756 sign G4592 be given G1325 unto it, G846 but G1508 the sign G4592 of the prophet G4396 Jonas. G2495 And G2532 he left G2641 them, G846 and departed. G565
And G2532 the Pharisees G5330 came forth, G1831 and G2532 began G756 to question G4802 with him, G846 seeking G2212 of G3844 him G846 a sign G4592 from G575 heaven, G3772 tempting G3985 him. G846 And G2532 he sighed deeply G389 in his G846 spirit, G4151 and saith, G3004 Why G5101 doth G1934 this G3778 generation G1074 seek after G1934 a sign? G4592 verily G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 There shall no G1487 sign G4592 be given G1325 unto this G5026 generation. G1074
And G1161 when the people G3793 were gathered thick together, G1865 he began G756 to say, G3004 This G3778 is G2076 an evil G4190 generation: G1074 they seek G1934 a sign; G4592 and G2532 there shall G1325 no G3756 sign G4592 be given G1325 it, G846 but G1508 the sign G4592 of Jonas G2495 the prophet. G4396 For G1063 as G2531 Jonas G2495 was G1096 a sign G4592 unto the Ninevites, G3536 so G3779 shall G2071 also G2532 the Son G5207 of man G444 be G2071 to this G5026 generation. G1074

Commentary on 2 Kings 20 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 20
In this chapter we have,
2Ki 20:1-11
The historian, having shown us blaspheming Sennacherib destroyed in the midst of the prospects of life, here shows us praying Hezekiah delivered in the midst of the prospects of death-the days of the former shortened, of the latter prolonged.
2Ki 20:12-21
Here is,
Lastly, Here is the conclusion of Hezekiah's life and story, v. 20, 21. In 2 Chr. ch. 29-32 much more is recorded of Hezekiah's work of reformation than in this book of Kings; and it seems that in the civil chronicles, not now extant, there were many things recorded of his might and the good offices he did for Jerusalem, particularly his bringing water by pipes into the city. To have water in plenty, without striving for it and without being terrified with the noise of archers in the drawing of it, to have it at hand and convenient for us, is to be reckoned a great mercy; for the want of water would be a great calamity. But here this historian leaves him asleep with his fathers, and a son in his throne that proved very untoward; for parents cannot give grace to their children. Wicked Ahaz was the son of a godly father and the father of a godly son; holy Hezekiah was the son of a wicked father and the father of a wicked son. When the land was not reformed, as it should have been, by a good reign, it was plagued and ripened for ruin by a bad one; yet then tried again with a good one, that it might appear how loth God was to cut off his people.
