6 Let seven H7651 men H582 of his sons H1121 be delivered H5414 unto us, and we will hang them up H3363 unto the LORD H3068 in Gibeah H1390 of Saul, H7586 whom the LORD H3068 did choose. H972 And the king H4428 said, H559 I will give H5414 them.
And Samuel H8050 said H559 to all the people, H5971 See H7200 ye him whom the LORD H3068 hath chosen, H977 that there is none like him among all the people? H5971 And all the people H5971 shouted, H7321 and said, H559 God save H2421 the king. H4428
And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Moses, H4872 Take H3947 all the heads H7218 of the people, H5971 and hang them up H3363 before H5048 the LORD H3068 against the sun, H8121 that the fierce H2740 anger H639 of the LORD H3068 may be turned away H7725 from Israel. H3478 And Moses H4872 said H559 unto the judges H8199 of Israel, H3478 Slay H2026 ye every H376 one H376 his men H582 that were joined H6775 unto Baalpeor. H1187
Also H4481 I have made H7761 a decree, H2942 that whosoever H3606 H606 shall alter H8133 this H1836 word, H6600 let timber H636 be pulled down H5256 from H4481 his house, H1005 and being set up, H2211 let him be hanged H4223 thereon; H5922 and let his house H1005 be made H5648 a dunghill H5122 for H5922 this. H1836
And G2532 he cast down G4496 the pieces of silver G694 in G1722 the temple, G3485 and departed, G402 and G2532 went G565 and hanged himself. G519
Then said H559 Esther, H635 If it please H2896 the king, H4428 let it be granted H5414 to the Jews H3064 which are in Shushan H7800 to do H6213 to morrow H4279 also according unto this day's H3117 decree, H1881 and let Haman's H2001 ten H6235 sons H1121 be hanged H8518 upon the gallows. H6086 And the king H4428 commanded H559 it so to be done: H6213 and the decree H1881 was given H5414 at Shushan; H7800 and they hanged H8518 Haman's H2001 ten H6235 sons. H1121
Yet within three H7969 days H3117 shall Pharaoh H6547 lift up H5375 thy head H7218 from off thee, and shall hang H8518 thee on a tree; H6086 and the birds H5775 shall eat H398 thy flesh H1320 from off thee.
And a certain H259 man H376 saw H7200 it, and told H5046 Joab, H3097 and said, H559 Behold, I saw H7200 Absalom H53 hanged H8518 in an oak. H424
And when Ahithophel H302 saw H7200 that his counsel H6098 was not followed, H6213 he saddled H2280 his ass, H2543 and arose, H6965 and gat him home H3212 to his house, H1004 to his city, H5892 and put his household H1004 in order, H6680 and hanged H2614 himself, and died, H4191 and was buried H6912 in the sepulchre H6913 of his father. H1

To morrow H4279 about this time H6256 I will send H7971 thee a man H376 out of the land H776 of Benjamin, H1144 and thou shalt anoint H4886 him to be captain H5057 over my people H5971 Israel, H3478 that he may save H3467 my people H5971 out of the hand H3027 of the Philistines: H6430 for I have looked H7200 upon my people, H5971 because their cry H6818 is come H935 unto me. And when Samuel H8050 saw H7200 Saul, H7586 the LORD H3068 said H6030 unto him, Behold the man H376 whom I spake H559 to thee of! this same shall reign H6113 over my people. H5971

Commentary on 2 Samuel 21 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 21
The date of the events of this chapter is uncertain. I incline to think that they happened as they are here placed, after Absalom's and Sheba's rebellion, and towards the latter end of David's reign. That the battles with the Philistines, mentioned here, were long after the Philistines were subdued, appears by comparing 1 Chr. 18:1 with 20:4. The numbering of the people was just before the fixing of the place of the temple (as appears 1 Chr. 22:1), and that was towards the close of David's life; and, it should seem, the people were numbered just after the three years' famine for the Gibeonites, for that which is threatened as "three' years' famine (1 Chr. 21:12) is called "seven' years (2 Sa. 24:12, 13), three more, with the year current, added to those three. We have here,

Here we have,
2Sa 21:15-22
We have here the story of some conflicts with the Philistines, which happened, as it should seem, in the latter end of David's reign. Though he had so subdued them that they could not bring any great numbers into the field, yet as long as they had any giants among them to be their champions, they would never be quiet, but took all occasions to disturb the peace of Israel, to challenge them, or make incursions upon them.
