9 And Joab H3097 gave up H5414 the sum H4557 of the number H4662 of the people H5971 unto the king: H4428 and there were in Israel H3478 eight H8083 hundred H3967 thousand H505 valiant H2428 men H376 H381 that drew H8025 the sword; H2719 and the men H376 of Judah H3063 were five H2568 hundred H3967 thousand H505 men. H376
These are those that were numbered, H6485 which Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 numbered, H6485 and the princes H5387 of Israel, H3478 being twelve H6240 H8147 men: H376 each H376 one H259 was for the house H1004 of his fathers. H1 So were all those that were numbered H6485 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 by the house H1004 of their fathers, H1 from twenty H6242 years H8141 old H1121 and upward, H4605 all that were able to go forth H3318 to war H6635 in Israel; H3478 Even all they that were numbered H6485 were six H8337 hundred H3967 thousand H505 and three H7969 thousand H505 and five H2568 hundred H3967 and fifty. H2572
And Joab H3097 gave H5414 the sum H4557 of the number H4662 of the people H5971 unto David. H1732 And all they of Israel H3478 were a thousand H505 thousand H505 and an hundred H3967 thousand H505 men H376 that drew H8025 sword: H2719 and Judah H3063 was four H702 hundred H3967 threescore and ten H7657 thousand H505 men H376 that drew H8025 sword. H2719 But Levi H3878 and Benjamin H1144 counted H6485 he not among H8432 them: for the king's H4428 word H1697 was abominable H8581 to Joab. H3097
But David H1732 took H5375 not the number H4557 of them from twenty H6242 years H8141 old H1121 and under: H4295 because the LORD H3068 had said H559 he would increase H7235 Israel H3478 like to the stars H3556 of the heavens. H8064 Joab H3097 the son H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 began H2490 to number, H4487 but he finished H3615 not, because there fell wrath H7110 for it H2063 against Israel; H3478 neither was the number H4557 put H5927 in the account H4557 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of king H4428 David. Commentary on 2 Samuel 24 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 24

2Sa 24:1-9
Here we have,
2Sa 24:10-17
We have here David repenting of the sin and yet punished for it, God repenting of the judgment and David thereby made more penitent.
2Sa 24:18-25
Here is,
