6 Which G3739 have borne witness G3140 of thy G4675 charity G26 before G1799 the church: G1577 whom G3739 if thou bring forward on their journey G4311 after G516 a godly G2316 sort, G516 thou shalt do G4160 well: G2573
G2532 That G1519 ye G5209 would walk G4043 worthy G516 of God, G2316 who hath called G2564 you G5209 unto G1519 his G1438 kingdom G932 and G2532 glory. G1391
And G3303 G3767 being brought on their way G4311 by G5259 the church, G1577 they passed through G1330 Phenice G5403 and G2532 Samaria, G4540 declaring G1555 the conversion G1995 of the Gentiles: G1484 and G2532 they caused G4160 great G3173 joy G5479 unto all G3956 the brethren. G80
If H518 thou doest well, H3190 shalt thou not be accepted? H7613 and if thou doest not well, H3190 sin H2403 lieth H7257 at the door. H6607 And unto thee shall be his desire, H8669 and thou shalt rule H4910 over him.
G1161 His G846 lord G2962 said G5346 unto him, G846 Well done, G2095 thou good G18 and G2532 faithful G4103 servant: G1401 thou hast been G2258 faithful G4103 over G1909 a few things, G3641 I will make G2525 thee G4571 ruler G2525 over G1909 many things: G4183 enter thou G1525 into G1519 the joy G5479 of thy G4675 lord. G2962 G1161 He also G2532 that had received G2983 two G1417 talents G5007 came G4334 and said, G2036 Lord, G2962 thou deliveredst G3860 unto me G3427 two G1417 talents: G5007 behold, G2396 I have gained G2770 two G1417 other G243 talents G5007 beside G1909 them. G846 His G846 lord G2962 said G5346 unto him, G846 Well done, G2095 good G18 and G2532 faithful G4103 servant; G1401 thou hast been G2258 faithful G4103 over G1909 a few things, G3641 I will make G2525 thee G4571 ruler G2525 over G1909 many things: G4183 enter thou G1525 into G1519 the joy G5479 of thy G4675 lord. G2962
That ye abstain G567 from meats offered to idols, G1494 and G2532 from blood, G129 and G2532 from things strangled, G4156 and G2532 from fornication: G4202 from G1537 which G3739 if ye keep G1301 yourselves, G1438 ye shall do G4238 well. G2095 Fare ye well. G4517
And G1161 when G3753 we G2248 had G1096 accomplished G1822 those days, G2250 we departed G1831 and went our way; G4198 and they all G3956 brought G4311 us G2248 on our way, G4311 with G4862 wives G1135 and G2532 children, G5043 till G2193 we were out of G1854 the city: G4172 and G2532 we kneeled down G5087 G1119 on G1909 the shore, G123 and prayed. G4336
Whensoever G5613 G1437 I take my journey G4198 into G1519 Spain, G4681 I will come G2064 to G4314 you: G5209 for G1063 I trust G1679 to see G2300 you G5209 in my journey, G1279 and G2532 to be brought on my way G4311 thitherward G1563 by G5259 you, G5216 if G1437 first G4412 I be G1705 somewhat G3313 filled G1705 with G575 your G5216 company.
And G2532 to pass G1330 by G1223 you G5216 into G1519 Macedonia, G3109 and G2532 to come G2064 again G3825 out of G575 Macedonia G3109 unto G4314 you, G5209 and G2532 of G5259 you G5216 to be brought on my way G4311 toward G1519 Judaea. G2449
Hearing G191 of thy G4675 love G26 and G2532 faith, G4102 which G3739 thou hast G2192 toward G4314 the Lord G2962 Jesus, G2424 and G2532 toward G1519 all G3956 saints; G40 That G3704 the communication G2842 of thy G4675 faith G4102 may become G1096 effectual G1756 by G1722 the acknowledging G1922 of every G3956 good thing G18 which G3588 is in G1722 you G5213 in G1519 Christ G5547 Jesus. G2424 For G1063 we have G2192 great G4183 joy G5485 and G2532 consolation G3874 in G1909 thy G4675 love, G26 because G3754 the bowels G4698 of the saints G40 are refreshed G373 by G1223 thee, G4675 brother. G80
For G1063 what G4169 glory G2811 is it, if, G1487 when G2532 ye be buffeted G2852 for your faults, G264 ye shall take it patiently? G5278 but G235 if, G1487 when ye do well, G15 and G2532 suffer G3958 for it, ye take it patiently, G5278 this G5124 is acceptable G5485 with G3844 God. G2316

Commentary on 3 John 1 Matthew Henry Commentary
An Exposition, With Practical Observations, of
The Third Epistle of John
Chapter 1
In this epistle the apostle congratulates Gaius upon the prosperity of his soul (v. 1, 2), upon the fame he had among good Christians (v. 3, 4), and upon his charity and hospitality to the servants of Christ (v. 5, 6). He complains of contemptuous treatment by an ambitious Diotrephes (v. 9, 10), recommends Demetrius (v. 12), and expresses his hope of visiting Gaius shortly (v. 13, 14).
