19 And G1161 he came G2658 to G1519 Ephesus, G2181 and G2548 left G2641 them there: G847 but G1161 he himself G846 entered G1525 into G1519 the synagogue, G4864 and reasoned with G1256 the Jews. G2453
And G1161 he reasoned G1256 in G1722 the synagogue G4864 G2596 every G3956 sabbath, G4521 and G5037 persuaded G3982 the Jews G2453 and G2532 the Greeks. G1672
For G1063 Paul G3972 had determined G2919 to sail by G3896 Ephesus, G2181 because G3704 he G846 would G1096 not G3361 spend the time G5551 in G1722 Asia: G773 for G1063 he hasted, G4692 if G1487 it were G2258 possible G1415 for him, G846 to be G1096 at G1519 Jerusalem G2414 the day G2250 of Pentecost. G4005
As G2531 I besought G3870 thee G4571 to abide still G4357 at G1722 Ephesus, G2181 when I went G4198 into G1519 Macedonia, G3109 that G2443 thou mightest charge G3853 some G5100 that they teach G2085 no G3361 other doctrine, G2085
The Lord G2962 grant G1325 unto him G846 that he may find G2147 mercy G1656 of G3844 the Lord G2962 in G1722 that G1565 day: G2250 and G2532 in how many things G3745 he ministered unto me G1247 at G1722 Ephesus, G2181 thou G4771 knowest G1097 very well. G957
Moreover G2532 ye see G2334 and G2532 hear, G191 that G3754 not G3756 alone G3440 at Ephesus, G2181 but G235 almost G4975 throughout all G3956 Asia, G773 this G3778 Paul G3972 hath persuaded G3982 and turned away G3179 much G2425 people, G3793 saying G3004 that G3754 they be G1526 no G3756 gods, G2316 which G3588 are made G1096 with G1223 hands: G5495
Saying, G3004 I G1473 am G1510 Alpha G1 and G2532 Omega, G5598 the first G4413 and G2532 the last: G2078 and, G2532 What G3739 thou seest, G991 write G1125 in G1519 a book, G975 and G2532 send G3992 it unto the seven G2033 churches G1577 which G3588 are in G1722 Asia; G773 unto G1519 Ephesus, G2181 and G2532 unto G1519 Smyrna, G4667 and G2532 unto G1519 Pergamos, G4010 and G2532 unto G1519 Thyatira, G2363 and G2532 unto G1519 Sardis, G4554 and G2532 unto G1519 Philadelphia, G5359 and G2532 unto G1519 Laodicea. G2993
Unto the angel G32 of the church G1577 of Ephesus G2179 write; G1125 These things G3592 saith G3004 he that holdeth G2902 the seven G2033 stars G792 in G1722 his G846 right hand, G1188 who G3588 walketh G4043 in G1722 the midst G3319 of the seven G2033 golden G5552 candlesticks; G3087
And G1161 Paul, G3972 as G2596 his manner was, G1486 went in G1525 unto G4314 them, G846 and G2532 G1909 three G5140 sabbath G4521 days reasoned G1256 with them G846 out of G575 the scriptures, G1124 Opening G1272 and G2532 alleging, G3908 that G3754 Christ G5547 must needs G1163 have suffered, G3958 and G2532 risen again G450 from G1537 the dead; G3498 and G2532 that G3754 this G3778 Jesus, G2424 whom G3739 I G1473 preach G2605 unto you, G5213 is G2076 Christ. G5547
But G235 bade G657 them G846 farewell, G657 saying, G2036 I G3165 must G1163 by all means G3843 keep G4160 this feast G1859 that cometh G2064 in G1519 Jerusalem: G2414 but G1161 I will return G344 again G3825 unto G4314 you, G5209 if God G2316 will. G2309 And G2532 he sailed G321 from G575 Ephesus. G2181

Commentary on Acts 18 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 18
In this chapter we have,
Act 18:1-6
We do not find that Paul was much persecuted at Athens, nor that he was driven thence by any ill usage, as he was from those places where the Jews had or could make any interest; but this reception at Athens being cold, and little prospect of doing good there, he departed from Athens, leaving the care of those there who believed with Dionysius; and thence he came to Corinth, where he was now instrumental in planting a church that became on many accounts considerable. Corinth was the chief city of Achaia, now a province of the empire, a rich and splendid city. Non cuivis homini contingit adire Corinthum-It is not permitted every man to see Corinth. The country thereabouts at this day is called the Morea. Now here we have,
Act 18:7-11
Here we are told,
Act 18:12-17
We have here an account of some disturbance given to Paul and his friends at Corinth, but no great harm done, nor much hindrance given to the work of Christ there.
Act 18:18-23
We have here Paul in motion, as we have had him at Corinth for some time at rest, but in both busy, very busy, in the service of Christ; if he sat still, if he went about, still it was to do good. Here is,
Act 18:24-28
The sacred history leaves Paul upon his travels, and goes here to meet Apollos at Ephesus, and to give us some account of him, which was necessary to our understanding some passages in Paul's epistles.
