1 And G2532 when G1722 the day G2250 of Pentecost G4005 was fully come, G4845 they were G2258 all G537 with one accord G3661 in G1909 one place. G846
But G1161 I will tarry G1961 at G1722 Ephesus G2181 until G2193 Pentecost. G4005
That G2443 ye may G1392 with one mind G3661 and G1722 one G1520 mouth G4750 glorify G1392 God, G2316 even G2532 the Father G3962 of our G2257 Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ. G5547
For G1063 Paul G3972 had determined G2919 to sail by G3896 Ephesus, G2181 because G3704 he G846 would G1096 not G3361 spend the time G5551 in G1722 Asia: G773 for G1063 he hasted, G4692 if G1487 it were G2258 possible G1415 for him, G846 to be G1096 at G1519 Jerusalem G2414 the day G2250 of Pentecost. G4005
Only G3440 let your conversation be G4176 as it becometh G516 the gospel G2098 of Christ: G5547 that G2443 whether G1535 I come G2064 and G2532 see G1492 you, G5209 or G1535 else be absent, G548 I may hear G191 of your G5216 affairs, G4012 that G3754 ye stand fast G4739 in G1722 one G1520 spirit, G4151 with one G3391 mind G5590 striving together G4866 for the faith G4102 of the gospel; G2098
And G1161 the multitude G4128 of them that believed G4100 were G2258 of one heart G2588 and G2532 of one G3391 soul: G5590 neither G2532 G3761 said G3004 any G1520 of them that ought G5100 of the things which he G846 possessed G5224 was G1511 his own; G2398 but G235 they G846 had G2258 all things G537 common. G2839
And G2532 when G3753 they were come in, G1525 they went up G305 into G1519 an upper room, G5253 where G3757 abode G2258 G2650 both G5037 Peter, G4074 and G2532 James, G2385 and G2532 John, G2491 and G2532 Andrew, G406 Philip, G5376 and G2532 Thomas, G2381 Bartholomew, G918 and G2532 Matthew, G3156 James G2385 the son of Alphaeus, G256 and G2532 Simon G4613 Zelotes, G2208 and G2532 Judas G2455 the brother of James. G2385 These G3778 all G3956 continued G2258 G4342 with one accord G3661 in prayer G4335 and G2532 supplication, G1162 with G4862 the women, G1135 and G2532 Mary G3137 the mother G3384 of Jesus, G2424 and G2532 with G4862 his G846 brethren. G80 And G2532 in G1722 those G5025 days G2250 Peter G4074 stood up G450 in G1722 the midst G3319 of the disciples, G3101 and said, G2036 G5037 (the number G3793 of names G3686 together G1909 G846 were G2258 about G5613 an hundred G1540 and twenty,) G1501
Fulfil ye G4137 my G3450 joy, G5479 that G2443 ye be likeminded, G846 G5426 having G2192 the same G846 love, G26 being of one accord, G4861 of one G1520 mind. G5426
For then will I turn H2015 to the people H5971 a pure H1305 language, H8193 that they may all call H7121 upon the name H8034 of the LORD, H3068 to serve H5647 him with one H259 consent. H7926
Also in Judah H3063 the hand H3027 of God H430 was to give H5414 them one H259 heart H3820 to do H6213 the commandment H4687 of the king H4428 and of the princes, H8269 by the word H1697 of the LORD. H3068
Seven H7651 weeks H7620 shalt thou number H5608 unto thee: begin H2490 to number H5608 the seven H7651 weeks H7620 from such time as thou beginnest H2490 to put the sickle H2770 to the corn. H7054 And thou shalt keep H6213 the feast H2282 of weeks H7620 unto the LORD H3068 thy God H430 with a tribute H4530 of a freewill offering H5071 of thine hand, H3027 which thou shalt give H5414 unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD H3068 thy God H430 hath blessed H1288 thee: And thou shalt rejoice H8055 before H6440 the LORD H3068 thy God, H430 thou, and thy son, H1121 and thy daughter, H1323 and thy manservant, H5650 and thy maidservant, H519 and the Levite H3881 that is within thy gates, H8179 and the stranger, H1616 and the fatherless, H3490 and the widow, H490 that are among H7130 you, in the place H4725 which the LORD H3068 thy God H430 hath chosen H977 to place H7931 his name H8034 there. And thou shalt remember H2142 that thou wast a bondman H5650 in Egypt: H4714 and thou shalt observe H8104 and do H6213 these statutes. H2706
And ye shall count H5608 unto you from the morrow H4283 after the sabbath, H7676 from the day H3117 that ye brought H935 the sheaf H6016 of the wave offering; H8573 seven H7651 sabbaths H7676 shall be H1961 complete: H8549 Even unto H5704 the morrow H4283 after the seventh H7637 sabbath H7676 shall ye number H5608 fifty H2572 days; H3117 and ye shall offer H7126 a new H2319 meat offering H4503 unto the LORD. H3068 Ye shall bring out H935 of your habitations H4186 two H8147 wave H8573 loaves H3899 of two H8147 tenth deals: H6241 they shall be of fine flour; H5560 they shall be baken H644 with leaven; H2557 they are the firstfruits H1061 unto the LORD. H3068 And ye shall offer H7126 with the bread H3899 seven H7651 lambs H3532 without blemish H8549 of the first H1121 year, H8141 and one H259 young H1241 H1121 bullock, H6499 and two H8147 rams: H352 they shall be for a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD, H3068 with their meat offering, H4503 and their drink offerings, H5262 even an offering made by fire, H801 of sweet H5207 savour H7381 unto the LORD. H3068 Then ye shall sacrifice H6213 one H259 kid H8163 of the goats H5795 for a sin offering, H2403 and two H8147 lambs H3532 of the first H1121 year H8141 for a sacrifice H2077 of peace offerings. H8002 And the priest H3548 shall wave H5130 them with the bread H3899 of the firstfruits H1061 for a wave offering H8573 before H6440 the LORD, H3068 with the two H8147 lambs: H3532 they shall be holy H6944 to the LORD H3068 for the priest. H3548 And ye shall proclaim H7121 on the selfsame H6106 day, H3117 that it may be an holy H6944 convocation H4744 unto you: ye shall do H6213 no servile H5656 work H4399 therein: it shall be a statute H2708 for ever H5769 in all your dwellings H4186 throughout your generations. H1755
And the feast H2282 of harvest, H7105 the firstfruits H1061 of thy labours, H4639 which thou hast sown H2232 in the field: H7704 and the feast H2282 of ingathering, H614 which is in the end H3318 of the year, H8141 when thou hast gathered H622 in thy labours H4639 out of the field. H7704
And G1161 when they heard that, G191 they lifted up G142 their voice G5456 to G4314 God G2316 with one accord, G3661 and G2532 said, G2036 Lord, G1203 thou G4771 art God, G2316 which G3588 hast made G4160 heaven, G3772 and G2532 earth, G1093 and G2532 the sea, G2281 and G2532 all G3956 that in G1722 them is: G846
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters H2690 H2690 and singers H7891 were as one, H259 to make one H259 sound H6963 to be heard H8085 in praising H1984 and thanking H3034 the LORD; H3068 and when they lifted up H7311 their voice H6963 with the trumpets H2689 and cymbals H4700 and instruments H3627 of musick, H7892 and praised H1984 the LORD, H3068 saying, For he is good; H2896 for his mercy H2617 endureth for ever: H5769 that then the house H1004 was filled H4390 with a cloud, H6051 even the house H1004 of the LORD; H3068
And in the fourteenth H702 H6240 day H3117 of the first H7223 month H2320 is the passover H6453 of the LORD. H3068 And in the fifteenth H2568 H6240 day H3117 of this month H2320 is the feast: H2282 seven H7651 days H3117 shall unleavened bread H4682 be eaten. H398 In the first H7223 day H3117 shall be an holy H6944 convocation; H4744 ye shall do H6213 no manner of servile H5656 work H4399 therein: But ye shall offer H7126 a sacrifice made by fire H801 for a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD; H3068 two H8147 young H1241 bullocks, H6499 and one H259 ram, H352 and seven H7651 lambs H3532 of the first H1121 year: H8141 they shall be unto you without blemish: H8549 And their meat offering H4503 shall be of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with oil: H8081 three H7969 tenth deals H6241 shall ye offer H6213 for a bullock, H6499 and two H8147 tenth deals H6241 for a ram; H352 A several tenth deal H6241 shalt thou offer H6213 for every H259 lamb, H3532 throughout the seven H7651 lambs: H3532 And one H259 goat H8163 for a sin offering, H2403 to make an atonement H3722 for you. Ye shall offer H6213 these beside the burnt offering H5930 in the morning, H1242 which is for a continual H8548 burnt offering. H5930 After this manner ye shall offer H6213 daily, H3117 throughout the seven H7651 days, H3117 the meat H3899 of the sacrifice made by fire, H801 of a sweet H5207 savour H7381 unto the LORD: H3068 it shall be offered H6213 beside the continual H8548 burnt offering, H5930 and his drink offering. H5262 And on the seventh H7637 day H3117 ye shall have an holy H6944 convocation; H4744 ye shall do H6213 no servile H5656 work. H4399 Also in the day H3117 of the firstfruits, H1061 when ye bring H7126 a new H2319 meat offering H4503 unto the LORD, H3068 after your weeks H7620 be out, ye shall have an holy H6944 convocation; H4744 ye shall do H6213 no servile H5656 work: H4399 But ye shall offer H7126 the burnt offering H5930 for a sweet H5207 savour H7381 unto the LORD; H3068 two H8147 young H1241 bullocks, H6499 one H259 ram, H352 seven H7651 lambs H3532 of the first H1121 year; H8141 And their meat offering H4503 of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with oil, H8081 three H7969 tenth deals H6241 unto one H259 bullock, H6499 two H8147 tenth deals H6241 unto one H259 ram, H352 A several tenth deal H6241 unto one H259 lamb, H3532 throughout the seven H7651 lambs; H3532 And one H259 kid H8163 of the goats, H5795 to make an atonement H3722 for you. Ye shall offer H6213 them beside the continual H8548 burnt offering, H5930 and his meat offering, H4503 (they shall be unto you without blemish) H8549 and their drink offerings. H5262

Commentary on Acts 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
Between the promise of the Messiah (even the latest of those promises) and his coming many ages intervened; but between the promise of the Spirit and his coming there were but a few days; and during those days the apostles, though they had received orders to preach the gospel to every creature, and to begin at Jerusalem, yet lay perfectly wind-bound, incognito-concealed, and not offering to preach. But in this chapter the north wind and the south wind awake, and then they awake, and we have them in the pulpit presently. Here is,
Act 2:1-4
We have here an account of the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the disciples of Christ. Observe,
Act 2:5-13
We have here an account of the public notice that was taken of this extraordinary gift with which the disciples were all on a sudden endued. Observe,
Act 2:14-36
We have here the first-fruits of the Spirit in the sermon which Peter preached immediately, directed, not to those of other nations in a strange language (we are not told what answer he gave to those that were amazed, and said, What meaneth this?) but to the Jews in the vulgar language, even to those that mocked; for he begins with the notice of that (v. 15), and addresses his discourse (v. 14) to the men of Judea and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; but we have reason enough to think that the other disciples continued to speak to those who understood them (and therefore flocked about them), in the languages of their respective countries, the wonderful works of God. And it was not by Peter's preaching only, but that of all, or most, of the rest of the hundred and twenty, that three thousand souls were that day converted, and added to the church; but Peter's sermon only is recorded, to be an evidence for him that he was thoroughly recovered from his fall, and thoroughly restored to the divine favour. He that had sneakingly denied Christ now as courageously confesses him. Observe,
Act 2:37-41
We have seen the wonderful effect of the pouring out of the Spirit, in its influence upon the preachers of the gospel. Peter, in all his life, never spoke at the rate that he had done now, with such fulness, perspicuity, and power. We are now to see another blessed fruit of the pouring out of the Spirit in its influence upon the hearers of the gospel. From the first delivery of that divine message, it appeared that there was a divine power going along with it, and it was mighty, through God, to do wonders: thousands were immediately brought by it to the obedience of faith; it was the rod of God's strength sent out of Zion, Ps. 110:2, 3. We have here the first-fruits of that vast harvest of souls which by it were gathered in to Jesus Christ. Come and see, in these verses, the exalted Redeemer riding forth, in these chariots of salvation, conquering and to conquer, Rev. 6:2.
In these verses we find the word of God the means of beginning and carrying on a good work of grace in the hearts of many, the Spirit of the Lord working by it. Let us see the method of it.
Act 2:42-47
We often speak of the primitive church, and appeal to it, and to the history of it; in these verses we have the history of the truly primitive church, of the first days of it, its state of infancy indeed, but, like that, the state of its greatest innocence.
But the Lord's giving them power to work miracles was not all he did for them; he added to the church daily. The word in their mouths did wonders, and God blessed their endeavours for the increase of the number of believers. Note, It is God's work to add souls to the church; and it is a great comfort both to ministers and Christians to see it.
