14 And G1161 he said, G2036 The God G2316 of our G2257 fathers G3962 hath chosen G4400 thee, G4571 that thou shouldest know G1097 his G846 will, G2307 and G2532 see G1492 that Just One, G1342 and G2532 shouldest hear G191 the voice G5456 of G1537 his G846 mouth. G4750
But G235 rise, G450 and G2532 stand G2476 upon G1909 thy G4675 feet: G4228 for G1063 I have appeared G3700 unto thee G4671 for G1519 this purpose, G5124 to make G4400 thee G4571 a minister G5257 and G2532 a witness G3144 both G5037 of these things which G3739 thou hast seen, G1492 and G5037 of those things in the which G3739 I will appear G3700 unto thee; G4671
For G1063 I G1473 neither G3761 received G3880 it G846 of G3844 man, G444 neither G3777 was I taught G1321 it, but G235 by G1223 the revelation G602 of Jesus G2424 Christ. G5547
And G1161 Ananias G367 went his way, G565 and G2532 entered G1525 into G1519 the house; G3614 and G2532 putting G2007 his hands G5495 on G1909 him G846 said, G2036 Brother G80 Saul, G4549 the Lord, G2962 even Jesus, G2424 that appeared G3700 unto thee G4671 in G1722 the way G3598 as G3739 thou camest, G2064 hath sent G649 me, G3165 that G3704 thou mightest receive thy sight, G308 and G2532 be filled with G4130 the Holy G40 Ghost. G4151
Which G5101 of the prophets G4396 have G1377 not G3756 your G5216 fathers G3962 persecuted? G1377 and G2532 they have slain G615 them which G3588 shewed before G4293 of G4012 the coming G1660 of the Just One; G1342 of whom G3739 ye G5210 have been G1096 now G3568 the betrayers G4273 and G2532 murderers: G5406
And G2532 saw G1492 him G846 saying G3004 unto me, G3427 Make haste, G4692 and G2532 get thee G1831 quickly G5034 G1722 out of G1537 Jerusalem: G2419 for G1360 they will G3858 not G3756 receive G3858 thy G4675 testimony G3141 concerning G4012 me. G1700
The God G2316 of Abraham, G11 and G2532 of Isaac, G2464 and G2532 of Jacob, G2384 the God G2316 of our G2257 fathers, G3962 hath glorified G1392 his G846 Son G3816 Jesus; G2424 whom G3739 ye G5210 delivered up, G3860 and G2532 denied G720 him G846 in G2596 the presence G4383 of Pilate, G4091 when he was determined G2919 to let G630 him G1565 go. G630 But G1161 ye G5210 denied G720 the Holy One G40 and G2532 the Just, G1342 and G2532 desired G154 a murderer G5406 G435 to be granted G5483 unto you; G5213
For G1063 I delivered G3860 unto you G5213 first of all G1722 G4413 that which G3739 I G3880 also G2532 received, G3880 how G3754 that Christ G5547 died G599 for G5228 our G2257 sins G266 according G2596 to the scriptures; G1124
Paul, G3972 a servant G1401 of God, G2316 and G1161 an apostle G652 of Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 according to G2596 the faith G4102 of God's G2316 elect, G1588 and G2532 the acknowledging G1922 of the truth G225 which G3588 is after G2596 godliness; G2150
For G1063 he hath made G4160 him to be sin G266 for G5228 us, G2257 who G3588 knew G1097 no G3361 sin; G266 that G2443 we G2249 might be made G1096 the righteousness G1343 of God G2316 in G1722 him. G846
And Moses H4872 said H559 unto God, H430 Behold, when I come H935 unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and shall say H559 unto them, The God H430 of your fathers H1 hath sent H7971 me unto you; and they shall say H559 to me, What is his name? H8034 what shall I say H559 unto them? And God H430 said H559 unto Moses, H4872 I AM H1961 THAT I AM: H1961 and he said, H559 Thus shalt thou say H559 unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 I AM hath sent H7971 me unto you. And God H430 said H559 moreover H5750 unto Moses, H4872 Thus shalt thou say H559 unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 The LORD H3068 God H430 of your fathers, H1 the God H430 of Abraham, H85 the God H430 of Isaac, H3327 and the God H430 of Jacob, H3290 hath sent H7971 me unto you: this is my name H8034 for ever, H5769 and this is my memorial H2143 unto all H1755 generations. H1755 Go, H3212 and gather H622 the elders H2205 of Israel H3478 together, H622 and say H559 unto them, The LORD H3068 God H430 of your fathers, H1 the God H430 of Abraham, H85 of Isaac, H3327 and of Jacob, H3290 appeared H7200 unto me, saying, H559 I have surely H6485 visited H6485 you, and seen that which is done H6213 to you in Egypt: H4714
Paul, G3972 a servant G1401 of Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 called G2822 to be an apostle, G652 separated G873 unto G1519 the gospel G2098 of God, G2316
But G1161 this G5124 I confess G3670 unto thee, G4671 that G3754 after G2596 the way G3598 which G3739 they call G3004 heresy, G139 so G3779 worship I G3000 the God G2316 of my fathers, G3971 believing G4100 all things G3956 which G3588 are written G1125 in G2596 the law G3551 and G2532 in G1722 the prophets: G4396
The God G2316 of this G5127 people G2992 of Israel G2474 chose G1586 our G2257 fathers, G3962 and G2532 exalted G5312 the people G2992 when G1722 they dwelt as strangers G3940 in G1722 the land G1093 of Egypt, G125 and G2532 with G3326 an high G5308 arm G1023 brought he G1806 them G846 out of G1537 it. G846
The God G2316 of our G2257 fathers G3962 raised up G1453 Jesus, G2424 whom G3739 ye G5210 slew G1315 and hanged G2910 on G1909 a tree. G3586
Ye G5210 have G1586 not G3756 chosen G1586 me, G3165 but G235 I G1473 have chosen G1586 you, G5209 and G2532 ordained G5087 you, G5209 that G2443 ye G5210 should go G5217 and G2532 bring forth G5342 fruit, G2590 and G2532 that your G5216 fruit G2590 should remain: G3306 that G2443 whatsoever G3739 G302 G3748 ye shall ask G154 of the Father G3962 in G1722 my G3450 name, G3686 he may give it G1325 you. G5213
I H576 thank H3029 thee, and praise H7624 thee, O thou God H426 of my fathers, H2 who hast given H3052 me wisdom H2452 and might, H1370 and hast made known H3046 unto me now H3705 what we desired H1156 of thee: H4481 for thou hast now made known H3046 unto us the king's H4430 matter. H4406
Before H2962 I formed H3335 thee in the belly H990 I knew H3045 thee; and before thou camest forth H3318 out of the womb H7358 I sanctified H6942 thee, and I ordained H5414 thee a prophet H5030 unto the nations. H1471
And in every several city H5892 of Judah H3063 he made H6213 high places H1116 to burn incense H6999 unto other H312 gods, H430 and provoked to anger H3707 the LORD H3068 God H430 of his fathers. H1
O LORD H3068 God H430 of Abraham, H85 Isaac, H3327 and of Israel, H3478 our fathers, H1 keep H8104 this for ever H5769 in the imagination H3336 of the thoughts H4284 of the heart H3824 of thy people, H5971 and prepare H3559 their heart H3824 unto thee:
And David H1732 went out H3318 to meet H6440 them, and answered H6030 and said H559 unto them, If ye be come H935 peaceably H7965 unto me to help H5826 me, mine heart H3824 shall be knit H3162 unto you: but if ye be come to betray H7411 me to mine enemies, H6862 seeing there is no H3808 wrong H2555 in mine hands, H3709 the God H430 of our fathers H1 look H7200 thereon, and rebuke H3198 it.

Commentary on Acts 22 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 22
In the close of the foregoing chapter we had Paul bound, according to Agabus's prophecy of the hard usage he should receive from the Jews at Jerusalem, yet he had his tongue set at liberty, by the permission the chief captain gave him to speak for himself; and so intent he is upon using that liberty of speech which is allowed him, to the honour of Christ and the service of his interest, that he forgets the bonds he is in, makes no mention of them, but speaks of the great things Christ had done for him with as much ease and cheerfulness as if nothing had been done to ruffle him or put him into disorder. We have here,
Act 22:1-2
Paul had, in the last verse of the foregoing chapter, gained a great point, by commanding so profound a silence after so loud a clamour. Now here observe,
Act 22:3-21
Paul here gives such an account of himself as might serve not only to satisfy the chief captain that he was not that Egyptian he took him to be, but the Jews also that he was not that enemy to their church and nation, to their law and temple, they took him to be, and that what he did in preaching Christ, and particularly in preaching him to the Gentiles, he did by a divine commission. He here gives them to understand,
Observe,
Now, if they would lay all this together, surely they would see that they had no reason to be angry with Paul for preaching among the Gentiles, or construe it as an act of ill-will to his own nation, for he was compelled to it, contrary to his own mind, by an overruling command from heaven.
Act 22:22-30
Paul was going on with this account of himself, had shown them his commission to preach among the Gentiles without any peevish reflections upon the Jews, and we may suppose designed next to show how he was afterwards, by a special direction of the Holy Ghost at Antioch, separated to this service, how tender he was of the Jews, how respectful to them, and how careful to give them the precedency in all places whither he came, and to unite Jews and Gentiles in one body; and then to show how wonderfully God had owned him, and what good service had been done to the interest of God's kingdom among men in general, without damage to any of the true interests of the Jewish church in particular. But, whatever he designs to say, they resolve he shall say no more to them: They gave him audience to this word. Hitherto they had heard him with patience and some attention. But when he speaks of being sent to the Gentiles, though it was what Christ himself said to him, they cannot bear it, not so much as to hear the Gentiles named, such an enmity had they to them, and such a jealousy of them. Upon the mention of this, they have no manner of patience, but forget all rules of decency and equity; thus were they provoked to jealousy by those that were no people, Rom. 10:19.
Now here we are told how furious and outrageous the people were against Paul, for mentioning the Gentiles as taken into the cognizance of divine grace, and so justifying his preaching among them.
