13 But the prince H8269 of the kingdom H4438 of Persia H6539 withstood H5975 me one H259 and twenty H6242 days: H3117 but, lo, Michael, H4317 one H259 of the chief H7223 princes, H8269 came H935 to help H5826 me; and I remained H3498 there with H681 the kings H4428 of Persia. H6539
And at that time H6256 shall Michael H4317 stand up, H5975 the great H1419 prince H8269 which standeth H5975 for the children H1121 of thy people: H5971 and there shall be H1961 a time H6256 of trouble, H6869 such as never was since there was a nation H1471 even to that same time: H6256 and at that time H6256 thy people H5971 shall be delivered, H4422 every one that shall be found H4672 written H3789 in the book. H5612
Yet G1161 Michael G3413 the archangel, G743 when G3753 contending G1252 with the devil G1228 he disputed G1256 about G4012 the body G4983 of Moses, G3475 durst G5111 not G3756 bring against him G2018 a railing G988 accusation, G2920 but G235 said, G2036 The Lord G2962 rebuke G2008 thee. G4671
Then said H559 he, Knowest H3045 thou wherefore I come H935 unto thee? and now will I return H7725 to fight H3898 with the prince H8269 of Persia: H6539 and when I am gone forth, H3318 lo, the prince H8269 of Grecia H3120 shall come. H935 But H61 I will shew H5046 thee that which is noted H7559 in the scripture H3791 of truth: H571 and there is none H259 that holdeth H2388 with me in these things, but Michael H4317 your prince. H8269
For G3754 we G2254 wrestle G3823 not G3756 against G2076 G4314 flesh G4561 and G2532 blood, G129 but G235 against G4314 principalities, G746 against G4314 powers, G1849 against G4314 the rulers G2888 of the darkness G4655 of this G5127 world, G165 against G4314 spiritual G4152 wickedness G4189 in G1722 high G2032 places.
Then the people H5971 of the land H776 weakened H7503 the hands H3027 of the people H5971 of Judah, H3063 and troubled H926 H1089 them in building, H1129 And hired H7936 counsellors H3289 against them, to frustrate H6565 their purpose, H6098 all the days H3117 of Cyrus H3566 king H4428 of Persia, H6539 even until the reign H4438 of Darius H1867 king H4428 of Persia. H6539 And in the reign H4438 of Ahasuerus, H325 in the beginning H8462 of his reign, H4438 wrote H3789 they unto him an accusation H7855 against the inhabitants H3427 of Judah H3063 and Jerusalem. H3389
Then H116 ceased H989 the work H5673 of the house H1005 of God H426 which is at Jerusalem. H3390 So it ceased H1934 H989 unto H5705 the second H8648 year H8140 of the reign H4437 of Darius H1868 king H4430 of Persia. H6540
And he shewed H7200 me Joshua H3091 the high H1419 priest H3548 standing H5975 before H6440 the angel H4397 of the LORD, H3068 and Satan H7854 standing H5975 at his right hand H3225 to resist H7853 him. And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto Satan, H7854 The LORD H3068 rebuke H1605 thee, O Satan; H7854 even the LORD H3068 that hath chosen H977 Jerusalem H3389 rebuke H1605 thee: is not this a brand H181 plucked H5337 out of the fire? Commentary on Daniel 10 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 10
This chapter and the two next (which conclude this book) make up one entire vision and prophecy, which was communicated to Daniel for the use of the church, not by signs and figures, as before (ch. 7 and 8), but by express words; and this was about two years after the vision in the foregoing chapter. Daniel prayed daily, but had a vision only now and then. In this chapter we have some things introductory to the prophecy, in the eleventh chapter the particular predictions, and ch. 12 the conclusion of it. This chapter shows us,
Dan 10:1-9
This vision is dated in the third year of Cyrus, that is, of his reign after the conquest of Babylon, his third year since Daniel became acquainted with him and a subject to him. Here is,
Dan 10:10-21
Much ado here is to bring Daniel to be able to bear what Christ has to say to him. Still we have him in a fright, hardly and very slowly recovering himself; but he is still answered and supported with good words and comfortable words. Let us see how Daniel is by degrees brought to himself, and gather up the several passages that are to the same purport.
