5 Then H116 said H560 these H479 men, H1400 We shall not H3809 find H7912 any H3606 occasion H5931 against H5922 this H1836 Daniel, H1841 except H3861 we find H7912 it against him concerning the law H1882 of his God. H426
Neither G3777 can G1410 they prove G3936 G3165 the things G4012 whereof G3739 they G2723 now G3568 accuse G2723 me. G3450 But G1161 this G5124 I confess G3670 unto thee, G4671 that G3754 after G2596 the way G3598 which G3739 they call G3004 heresy, G139 so G3779 worship I G3000 the God G2316 of my fathers, G3971 believing G4100 all things G3956 which G3588 are written G1125 in G2596 the law G3551 and G2532 in G1722 the prophets: G4396 And have G2192 hope G1680 toward G1519 God, G2316 which G3739 they G3778 themselves G846 also G2532 allow, G4327 that there shall be G3195 G1510 a resurrection G386 of the dead, G3498 both G5037 of the just G1342 and G2532 unjust. G94 And G1161 herein G1722 G5129 do I exercise G778 myself, G846 to have G2192 always G1275 a conscience G4893 void of offence G677 toward G4314 God, G2316 and G2532 toward men. G444
Or else G2228 let G2036 these G846 same G3778 here say, G2036 if G1536 they have found G2147 any G1536 evil doing G92 in G1722 me, G1698 while I G3450 stood G2476 before G1909 the council, G4892 Except G2228 it be for G4012 this G5026 one G3391 voice, G5456 that G3739 I cried G2896 standing G2476 among G1722 them, G846 Touching G3754 G4012 the resurrection G386 of the dead G3498 I G1473 am called in question G2919 by G5259 you G5216 this day. G4594
When G3753 the chief priests G749 therefore G3767 and G2532 officers G5257 saw G1492 him, G846 they cried out, G2905 saying, G3004 Crucify G4717 him, crucify G4717 him. Pilate G4091 saith G3004 unto them, G846 Take G2983 ye G5210 him, G846 and G2532 crucify G4717 him: for G1063 I G1473 find G2147 no G3756 fault G156 in G1722 him. G846 The Jews G2453 answered G611 him, G846 We G2249 have G2192 a law, G3551 and G2532 by G2596 our G2257 law G3551 he ought G3784 to die, G599 because G3754 he made G4160 himself G1438 the Son G5207 of God. Commentary on Daniel 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
Daniel does not give a continued history of the reigns in which he lived, nor of the state-affairs of the kingdoms of Chaldea and Persia, though he was himself a great man in those affairs; for what are those to us? But he selects such particular passages of story as serve for the confirming of our faith in God and the encouraging of our obedience to him, for the things written aforetime were written for our learning. It is a very observable improvable story that we have in this chapter, how Daniel by faith "stopped the mouths of lions,' and so "obtained a good report,' Heb. 11:33. The three children were cast into the fiery furnace for not committing a known sin, Daniel was cast into the lions' den for not omitting a known duty, and God's miraculously delivering both them and him is left upon record for the encouragement of his servants in all ages to be resolute and constant both in their abhorrence of that which is evil and in their adherence to that which is good, whatever it cost them. In this chapter we have,
And this God is our God for ever and ever.

We are told concerning Daniel,
Dan 6:6-10
Daniel's adversaries could have no advantage against him from any law now in being; they therefore contrive a new law, by which they hope to ensnare him, and in a matter in which they knew they should be sure of him; and such was his fidelity to his God that they gained their point. Here is,

Darius here studies to make some amends for the dishonour he had done both to God and Daniel, in casting Daniel into the lions' den, by doing honour to both.
