12 Honour H3513 thy father H1 and thy mother: H517 that thy days H3117 may be long H748 upon the land H127 which the LORD H3068 thy God H430 giveth H5414 thee.
Children, G5043 obey G5219 your G5216 parents G1118 in G1722 the Lord: G2962 for G1063 this G5124 is G2076 right. G1342 Honour G5091 thy G4675 father G3962 and G2532 mother; G3384 (which G3748 is G2076 the first G4413 commandment G1785 with G1722 promise;) G1860 That G2443 it may be G1096 well G2095 with thee, G4671 and G2532 thou mayest G2071 live long G3118 on G1909 the earth. G1093
My son, H1121 hear H8085 the instruction H4148 of thy father, H1 and forsake H5203 not the law H8451 of thy mother: H517 For they shall be an ornament H3880 of grace H2580 unto thy head, H7218 and chains H6060 about thy neck. H1621
For G1063 God G2316 commanded, G1781 saying, G3004 Honour G5091 thy G4675 father G3962 and G2532 mother: G3384 and, G2532 He that curseth G2551 father G3962 or G2228 mother, G3384 let him die G5053 the death. G2288 But G1161 ye G5210 say, G3004 Whosoever G3739 G302 shall say G2036 to his father G3962 or G2228 his mother, G3384 It is a gift, G1435 by G1537 whatsoever G3739 G1437 thou mightest be profited G5623 by me; G1700 And G2532 honour G5091 not G3364 his G846 father G3962 or G2228 his G846 mother, G3384 he shall be free. Thus G2532 have ye made G208 the commandment G1785 of God G2316 of none effect G208 by G1223 your G5216 tradition. G3862
Hearken H8085 unto thy father H1 that begat H3205 thee, and despise H936 not thy mother H517 when she is old. H2204 Buy H7069 the truth, H571 and sell H4376 it not; also wisdom, H2451 and instruction, H4148 and understanding. H998 The father H1 of the righteous H6662 shall greatly H1524 rejoice: H1523 and he that begetteth H3205 a wise H2450 child shall have joy H8055 of him. Thy father H1 and thy mother H517 shall be glad, H8055 and she that bare H3205 thee shall rejoice. H1523

Commentary on Exodus 20 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 20
All things being prepared for the solemn promulgation of the divine law, we have, in this chapter,
Exd 20:1-11
Here is,
Exd 20:12-17
We have here the laws of the second table, as they are commonly called, the last six of the ten commandments, comprehending our duty to ourselves and to one another, and constituting a comment upon the second great commandment, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. As religion towards God is an essential branch of universal righteousness, so righteousness towards men is an essential branch of true religion. Godliness and honesty must go together.
Exd 20:18-21
Exd 20:22-26
Moses having gone into the thick darkness, where God was, God there spoke in his hearing only, privately and without terror, all that follows hence to the end of ch. 23, which is mostly an exposition of the ten commandments; and he was to transmit it by word of mouth first, and afterwards in writing, to the people. The laws in these verses related to God's worship.
