7 The morning H6843 is come H935 unto thee, O thou that dwellest H3427 in the land: H776 the time H6256 is come, H935 H935 the day H3117 of trouble H4103 is near, H7138 and not the sounding again H1906 of the mountains. H2022
For it is a day H3117 of trouble, H4103 and of treading down, H4001 and of perplexity H3998 by the Lord H136 GOD H3069 of hosts H6635 in the valley H1516 of vision, H2384 breaking H6979 down the walls, H7023 and of crying H7771 to the mountains. H2022
The time H6256 is come, H935 the day H3117 draweth near: H5060 let not the buyer H7069 rejoice, H8055 nor the seller H4376 mourn: H56 for wrath H2740 is upon all the multitude H1995 thereof.
Tell H559 them therefore, Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 I will make this proverb H4912 to cease, H7673 and they shall no more use it as a proverb H4911 in Israel; H3478 but say H1696 unto them, The days H3117 are at hand, H7126 and the effect H1697 of every vision. H2377 For there shall be no more any vain H7723 vision H2377 nor flattering H2509 divination H4738 within H8432 the house H1004 of Israel. H3478 For I am the LORD: H3068 I will speak, H1696 and the word H1697 that I shall speak H1696 shall come to pass; H6213 it shall be no more prolonged: H4900 for in your days, H3117 O rebellious H4805 house, H1004 will I say H1696 the word, H1697 and will perform H6213 it, saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD. H3069
Therefore say H559 unto them, Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 There shall none of my words H1697 be prolonged H4900 any more, but the word H1697 which I have spoken H1696 shall be done, H6213 saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD. H3069
And the wild beasts of the islands H338 shall cry H6030 in their desolate houses, H490 and dragons H8577 in their pleasant H6027 palaces: H1964 and her time H6256 is near H7138 to come, H935 and her days H3117 shall not be prolonged. H4900
For, lo, he that formeth H3335 the mountains, H2022 and createth H1254 the wind, H7307 and declareth H5046 unto man H120 what is his thought, H7808 that maketh H6213 the morning H7837 darkness, H5890 and treadeth H1869 upon the high places H1116 of the earth, H776 The LORD, H3068 The God H430 of hosts, H6635 is his name. H8034
The great H1419 day H3117 of the LORD H3068 is near, H7138 it is near, H7138 and hasteth H4118 greatly, H3966 even the voice H6963 of the day H3117 of the LORD: H3068 the mighty man H1368 shall cry H6873 there bitterly. H4751 That day H3117 is a day H3117 of wrath, H5678 a day H3117 of trouble H6869 and distress, H4691 a day H3117 of wasteness H7722 and desolation, H4875 a day H3117 of darkness H2822 and gloominess, H653 a day H3117 of clouds H6051 and thick darkness, H6205 A day H3117 of the trumpet H7782 and alarm H8643 against the fenced H1219 cities, H5892 and against the high H1364 towers. Commentary on Ezekiel 7 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 7
In this chapter the approaching ruin of the land of Israel is most particularly foretold in affecting expressions often repeated, that if possible they might be awakened by repentance to prevent it. The prophet must tell them,
Eze 7:1-15
We have here fair warning given of the destruction of the land of Israel, which was now hastening on apace. God, by the prophet, not only sends notice of it, but will have it inculcated in the same expressions, to show that the thing is certain, that it is near, that the prophet is himself affected with it and desires they should be so too, but finds them deaf, and stupid, and unaffected. When the town is on fire men do no seek for fine words and quaint expressions in which to give an account of it, but cry about the streets, with a loud and lamentable voice, "Fire! fire!' So the prophet here proclaims, An end! an end! it has come, it has come; behold, it has come. He that hath ears to hear let him hear.
Eze 7:16-22
We have attended the fate of those that are cut off, and are now to attend the flight of those that have an opportunity of escaping the danger; some of them shall escape (v. 16), but what the better? As good die once as, in a miserable life, die a thousand deaths, and escape only like Cain to be fugitives and vagabonds, and afraid of being slain by every one they meet; so shall these be.
Eze 7:23-27
