21 I do G114 not G3756 frustrate G114 the grace G5485 of God: G2316 for G1063 if G1487 righteousness G1343 come by G1223 the law, G3551 then G686 Christ G5547 is dead G599 in vain. G1432
Is the law G3551 then G3767 against G2596 the promises G1860 of God? G2316 God forbid: G3361 G1096 for G1063 if G1487 there had been G1325 a law G3551 given G1325 which G3588 could G1410 have given life, G2227 verily G3689 righteousness G1343 should G302 have been G2258 by G1537 the law. G3551
Behold, G2396 I G1473 Paul G3972 say G3004 unto you, G5213 that G3754 if G1437 ye be circumcised, G4059 Christ G5547 shall profit G5623 you G5209 nothing. G3762 For G1161 I testify G3143 again G3825 to every G3956 man G444 that is circumcised, G4059 that G3754 he is G2076 a debtor G3781 to do G4160 the whole G3650 law. G3551 Christ G5547 is become of no effect unto you, G575 G2673 whosoever of you G3748 are justified G1344 by G1722 the law; G3551 ye are fallen from G1601 grace. G5485
And G1161 if G1487 by grace, G5485 then is it no more G2089 G3765 of G1537 works: G2041 otherwise G1893 grace G5485 is G1096 no more G2089 G3765 grace. G5485 But G1161 if G1487 it be of G1537 works, G2041 then is it G2076 no more G2089 G3765 grace: G5485 otherwise G1893 work G2041 is G2076 no more G2089 G3765 work. G2041
And G1161 if G1487 Christ G5547 be G1453 not G3756 risen, G1453 then G686 is our G2257 preaching G2782 vain, G2756 and G2532 your G5216 faith G4102 is G1161 also G2532 vain. G2756
Knowing G1492 that G3754 a man G444 is G1344 not G3756 justified G1344 by G1537 the works G2041 of the law, G3551 but G3362 by G1223 the faith G4102 of Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 even G2532 we G2249 have believed G4100 in G1519 Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 that G2443 we might be justified G1344 by G1537 the faith G4102 of Christ, G5547 and G2532 not G3756 by G1537 the works G2041 of the law: G3551 for G1360 by G1537 the works G2041 of the law G3551 shall G1344 no G3756 G3956 flesh G4561 be justified. G1344
If G1487 G3303 therefore G3767 perfection G5050 were G2258 by G1223 the Levitical G3020 priesthood, G2420 (for G1063 under G1909 it G846 the people G2992 received the law,) G3549 what G5101 further G2089 need G5532 was there that another G2087 priest G2409 should rise G450 after G2596 the order G5010 of Melchisedec, G3198 and G2532 not G3756 be called G3004 after G2596 the order G5010 of Aaron? G2
By G1223 which G3739 also G2532 ye are saved, G4982 if G1487 ye keep G2722 in memory what G5101 G3056 I preached G2097 unto you, G5213 unless G1622 G1508 ye have believed G4100 in vain. G1500
For G1063 they being ignorant G50 of God's G2316 righteousness, G1343 and G2532 going about G2212 to establish G2476 their own G2398 righteousness, G1343 have G5293 not G3756 submitted themselves G5293 unto the righteousness G1343 of God. G2316

Commentary on Galatians 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
The apostle, in this chapter, continues the relation of his past life and conduct, which he had begun in the former; and, by some further instances of what had passed between him and the other apostles, makes it appear that he was not beholden to them either for his knowledge of the gospel or his authority as an apostle, as his adversaries would insinuate; but, on the contrary, that he was owned and approved even by them, as having an equal commission with them to this office.
Gal 2:1-10
It should seem, by the account Paul gives of himself in this chapter, that, from the very first preaching and planting of Christianity, there was a difference of apprehension between those Christians who had first been Jews and those who had first been Gentiles. Many of those who had first been Jews retained a regard to the ceremonial law, and strove to keep up the reputation of that; but those who had first been Gentiles had no regard to the law of Moses, but took pure Christianity as perfective of natural religion, and resolved to adhere to that. Peter was the apostle to them; and the ceremonial law, though dead with Christ, yet not being as yet buried, he connived at the respect kept up for it. But Paul was the apostle of the Gentiles; and, though he was a Hebrew of the Hebrews, yet he adhered to pure Christianity. Now in this chapter he tells us what passed between him and the other apostles, and particularly between him and Peter hereupon.
In these verses he informs us of another journey which he took to Jerusalem, and of what passed between him and the other apostles there, v. 1-10. Here he acquaints us,
