4 And G1161 that because of G1223 false brethren G5569 unawares brought in, G3920 who G3748 came in privily G3922 to spy out G2684 our G2257 liberty G1657 which G3739 we have G2192 in G1722 Christ G5547 Jesus, G2424 that G2443 they might bring G2615 us G2248 into bondage: G2615
For G1063 there are certain G5100 men G444 crept in unawares, G3921 who G3588 were before G4270 of old G3819 ordained G4270 to G1519 this G5124 condemnation, G2917 ungodly men, G765 turning G3346 the grace G5485 of our G2257 God G2316 into G1519 lasciviousness, G766 and G2532 denying G720 the only G3441 Lord G1203 God, G2316 and G2532 our G2257 Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ. G5547
Stand fast G4739 therefore G3767 in the liberty G1657 wherewith G3739 Christ G5547 hath made G1659 us G2248 free, G1659 and G2532 be G1758 not G3361 entangled G1758 again G3825 with the yoke G2218 of bondage. G1397
In journeyings G3597 often, G4178 in perils G2794 of waters, G4215 in perils G2794 of robbers, G3027 in perils G2794 by G1537 mine own countrymen, G1085 in perils G2794 by G1537 the heathen, G1484 in perils G2794 in G1722 the city, G4172 in perils G2794 in G1722 the wilderness, G2047 in perils G2794 in G1722 the sea, G2281 in perils G2794 among G1722 false brethren; G5569
For G1063 ye suffer, G430 if a man G1536 bring G2615 you G5209 into bondage, G2615 if a man G1536 devour G2719 you, if a man G1536 take G2983 of you, if a man G1536 exalt himself, G1869 if a man G1536 smite G1194 you G5209 on G1519 the face. G4383
Forasmuch as G1894 we have heard, G191 that G3754 certain G5100 which went out G1831 from G1537 us G2257 have troubled G5015 you G5209 with words, G3056 subverting G384 your G5216 souls, G5590 saying, G3004 Ye must be circumcised, G4059 and G2532 keep G5083 the law: G3551 to whom G3739 we gave G1291 no G3756 such commandment: G1291
I would G3785 they were G609 even G2532 cut off G609 which trouble G387 you. G5209 For, G1063 brethren, G80 ye G5210 have been called G2564 unto G1909 liberty; G1657 only G3440 use not G3361 liberty G1657 for G1519 an occasion G874 to the flesh, G4561 but G235 by G1223 love G26 serve G1398 one another. G240
For G1063 such G5108 are false apostles, G5570 deceitful G1386 workers, G2040 transforming themselves G3345 into G1519 the apostles G652 of Christ. G5547
But G1161 there were G1096 false prophets G5578 also G2532 among G1722 the people, G2992 even G2532 as G5613 there shall be G2071 false teachers G5572 among G1722 you, G5213 who G3748 privily shall bring in G3919 damnable G684 heresies, G139 even G2532 denying G720 the Lord G1203 that bought G59 them, G846 and bring G1863 upon themselves G1438 swift G5031 destruction. G684 And G2532 many G4183 shall follow G1811 their G846 pernicious ways; G684 by reason of G1223 whom G3739 the way G3598 of truth G225 shall be evil spoken of. G987
While they promise G1861 them G846 liberty, G1657 they themselves G846 are G5225 the servants G1401 of corruption: G5356 for G1063 of whom G3739 a man G5100 is overcome, G2274 G2532 of the same G5129 is he brought in bondage. G1402
For G1063 of G1537 this sort G5130 are they G1526 which creep G1744 into G1519 houses, G3614 and G2532 lead captive G162 silly women G1133 laden G4987 with sins, G266 led away G71 with divers G4164 lusts, G1939
I G1473 have confidence G3982 in G1519 you G5209 through G1722 the Lord, G2962 that G3754 ye will be G5426 none G3762 otherwise G243 minded: G5426 but G1161 he that troubleth G5015 you G5209 shall bear G941 his judgment, G2917 whosoever G3748 he be. G302 G5600
But G1161 now, G3568 after that ye have known G1097 God, G2316 or G1161 rather G3123 are known G1097 of G5259 God, G2316 how G4459 turn ye G1994 again G3825 to G1909 the weak G772 and G2532 beggarly G4434 elements, G4747 whereunto G3739 ye desire G2309 again G3825 G509 to be in bondage? G1398 Ye observe G3906 days, G2250 and G2532 months, G3376 and G2532 times, G2540 and G2532 years. G1763
But G1161 before G4253 faith G4102 came, G2064 we were kept G5432 under G5259 the law, G3551 shut up G4788 unto G1519 the faith G4102 which should afterwards G3195 be revealed. G601 Wherefore G5620 the law G3551 was G1096 our G2257 schoolmaster G3807 to bring us unto G1519 Christ, G5547 that G2443 we might be justified G1344 by G1537 faith. G4102 But G1161 after that faith G4102 is come, G2064 we are G2070 no longer G2089 G3765 under G5259 a schoolmaster. G3807 For G1063 ye are G2075 all G3956 the children G5207 of God G2316 by G1223 faith G4102 in G1722 Christ G5547 Jesus. G2424
For G1063 ye have G2983 not G3756 received G2983 the spirit G4151 of bondage G1397 again G3825 to G1519 fear; G5401 but G235 ye have received G2983 the Spirit G4151 of adoption, G5206 whereby G1722 G3739 we cry, G2896 Abba, G5 Father. G3962
Also G2532 of G1537 your G5216 own selves G846 shall G450 men G435 arise, G450 speaking G2980 perverse things, G1294 to draw away G645 disciples G3101 after G3694 them. G846
Then G3767 said G3004 Jesus G2424 to G4314 those Jews G2453 which G3588 believed G4100 on him, G846 If G1437 ye G5210 continue G3306 in G1722 my G1699 word, G3056 then are ye G2075 my G3450 disciples G3101 indeed; G230 And G2532 ye shall know G1097 the truth, G225 and G2532 the truth G225 shall make G1659 you G5209 free. G1659 They answered G611 him, G846 We be G2070 Abraham's G11 seed, G4690 and G2532 were G1398 never G4455 in bondage G1398 to any man: G3762 how G4459 sayest G3004 thou, G4771 G3754 Ye shall be made G1096 free? G1658 Jesus G2424 answered G611 them, G846 Verily, G281 verily, G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 G3754 Whosoever G3956 committeth G4160 sin G266 is G2076 the servant G1401 of sin. G266 And G1161 the servant G1401 abideth G3306 not G3756 in G1722 the house G3614 for G1519 ever: G165 but the Son G5207 abideth G3306 G1519 ever. G165 If G1437 the Son G5207 therefore G3767 shall make G1659 you G5209 free, G1659 ye shall be G2071 free G1658 indeed. G3689

Commentary on Galatians 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
The apostle, in this chapter, continues the relation of his past life and conduct, which he had begun in the former; and, by some further instances of what had passed between him and the other apostles, makes it appear that he was not beholden to them either for his knowledge of the gospel or his authority as an apostle, as his adversaries would insinuate; but, on the contrary, that he was owned and approved even by them, as having an equal commission with them to this office.
Gal 2:1-10
It should seem, by the account Paul gives of himself in this chapter, that, from the very first preaching and planting of Christianity, there was a difference of apprehension between those Christians who had first been Jews and those who had first been Gentiles. Many of those who had first been Jews retained a regard to the ceremonial law, and strove to keep up the reputation of that; but those who had first been Gentiles had no regard to the law of Moses, but took pure Christianity as perfective of natural religion, and resolved to adhere to that. Peter was the apostle to them; and the ceremonial law, though dead with Christ, yet not being as yet buried, he connived at the respect kept up for it. But Paul was the apostle of the Gentiles; and, though he was a Hebrew of the Hebrews, yet he adhered to pure Christianity. Now in this chapter he tells us what passed between him and the other apostles, and particularly between him and Peter hereupon.
In these verses he informs us of another journey which he took to Jerusalem, and of what passed between him and the other apostles there, v. 1-10. Here he acquaints us,
