12 And when the sun H8121 was going down, H935 a deep sleep H8639 fell H5307 upon Abram; H87 and, lo, an horror H367 of great H1419 darkness H2825 fell H5307 upon him.
And the LORD H3068 God H430 caused H5307 a deep sleep H8639 to fall H5307 upon Adam, H121 and he slept: H3462 and he took H3947 one H259 of his ribs, H6763 and closed up H5462 the flesh H1320 instead thereof;
In a dream, H2472 in a vision H2384 of the night, H3915 when deep H8639 sleep falleth H5307 upon men, H582 in slumberings H8572 upon the bed; H4904
Therefore I was left alone, H7604 and saw H7200 this great H1419 vision, H4759 and there remained H7604 no strength H3581 in me: for my comeliness H1935 was turned H2015 in me into corruption, H4889 and I retained H6113 no strength. H3581 Yet heard H8085 I the voice H6963 of his words: H1697 and when I heard H8085 the voice H6963 of his words, H1697 then was I in a deep sleep H7290 on my face, H6440 and my face H6440 toward the ground. H776
So David H1732 took H3947 the spear H2595 and the cruse H6835 of water H4325 from Saul's H7586 bolster; H7226 and they gat them away, H3212 and no man saw H7200 it, nor knew H3045 it, neither awaked: H6974 for they were all asleep; H3463 because a deep sleep H8639 from the LORD H3068 was fallen H5307 upon them.
In thoughts H5587 from the visions H2384 of the night, H3915 when deep sleep H8639 falleth H5307 on men, H582 Fear H6343 came H7122 upon me, and trembling, H7461 which made all H7230 my bones H6106 to shake. H6342
But know H3045 that the LORD H3068 hath set apart H6395 him that is godly H2623 for himself: the LORD H3068 will hear H8085 when I call H7121 unto him. Stand in awe, H7264 and sin H2398 not: commune H559 with your own heart H3824 upon your bed, H4904 and be still. H1826 Selah. H5542 Offer H2076 the sacrifices H2077 of righteousness, H6664 and put your trust H982 in the LORD. H3068
And G1161 Saul G4569 arose G1453 from G575 the earth; G1093 and G1161 when his G846 eyes G3788 were opened, G455 he saw G991 no man: G3762 but G1161 they led G5496 him G846 by the hand, G5496 and brought G1521 him into G1519 Damascus. G1154 And G2532 he was G2258 three G5140 days G2250 without G3361 sight, G991 and G2532 neither G3756 did eat G5315 nor G3761 drink. G4095
And G1161 there sat G2521 in G1909 a window G2376 a certain G5100 young man G3494 named G3686 Eutychus, G2161 being fallen G2702 into a deep G901 sleep: G5258 and as Paul G3972 was long G1909 G4119 preaching, G1256 he sunk down G2702 with G575 sleep, G5258 and fell down G2736 G4098 from G575 the third loft, G5152 and G2532 was taken up G142 dead. Commentary on Genesis 15 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 15
In this chapter we have a solemn treaty between God and Abram concerning a covenant that was to be established between them. In the former chapter we had Abram in the field with Kings; here we find him in the mount with God; and, though there he looked great, yet, methinks, here he looks much greater: that honour have the great men of the world, but "this honour have all the saints.' The covenant to be settled between God and Abram was a covenant of promises; accordingly, here is,
Gen 15:1
Observe here,
Gen 15:2-6
We have here the assurance given to Abram of a numerous offspring which should descend from him, in which observe,

We have here the assurance given to Abram of the land of Canaan for an inheritance.
Gen 15:12-16
We have here a full and particular discovery made to Abram of God's purposes concerning his seed. Observe,
Gen 15:17-21
