31 And when the LORD H3068 saw H7200 that Leah H3812 was hated, H8130 he opened H6605 her womb: H7358 but Rachel H7354 was barren. H6135
If a man H376 have two H8147 wives, H802 one H259 beloved, H157 and another H259 hated, H8130 and they have born H3205 him children, H1121 both the beloved H157 and the hated; H8130 and if the firstborn H1060 son H1121 be hers that was hated: H8146
For this child H5288 I prayed; H6419 and the LORD H3068 hath given H5414 me my petition H7596 which I asked H7592 of him:
He that loveth G5368 his G846 life G5590 shall lose G622 it; G846 and G2532 he that hateth G3404 his G846 life G5590 in G1722 this G5129 world G2889 shall keep G5442 it G846 unto G1519 life G2222 eternal. G166
If any G1536 man come G2064 to G4314 me, G3165 and G2532 hate G3404 not G3756 his G1438 father, G3962 and G2532 mother, G3384 and G2532 wife, G1135 and G2532 children, G5043 and G2532 brethren, G80 and G2532 sisters, G79 yea, G2089 and G1161 his own G1438 life G5590 also, G2532 he cannot G3756 G1410 be G1511 my G3450 disciple. G3101
And G2532 they G846 had G2258 no G3756 child, G5043 because G2530 that Elisabeth G1665 was G2258 barren, G4723 and G2532 they G846 both G297 were G2258 now well stricken G4260 in G1722 years. G2250
He that loveth G5368 father G3962 or G2228 mother G3384 more than G5228 me G1691 is G2076 not G3756 worthy G514 of me: G3450 and G2532 he that loveth G5368 son G5207 or G2228 daughter G2364 more than G5228 me G1691 is G2076 not G3756 worthy G514 of me. G3450
No man G3762 can G1410 serve G1398 two G1417 masters: G2962 for G1063 either G2228 he will hate G3404 the one, G1520 and G2532 love G25 the other; G2087 or else G2228 he will hold G472 to the one, G1520 and G2532 despise G2706 the other. G2087 Ye cannot G3756 G1410 serve G1398 God G2316 and G2532 mammon. G3126
And I hated H8130 Esau, H6215 and laid H7760 his mountains H2022 and his heritage H5159 waste H8077 for the dragons H8568 of the wilderness. H4057
Wherefore it came to pass, when the time H3117 was come H8622 about after Hannah H2584 had conceived, H2029 that she bare H3205 a son, H1121 and called H7121 his name H8034 Samuel, H8050 saying, Because I have asked H7592 him of the LORD. H3068
But unto Hannah H2584 he gave H5414 a H259 worthy H639 portion; H4490 for he loved H157 Hannah: H2584 but the LORD H3068 had shut up H5462 her womb. H7358
And there was a certain H259 man H376 of Zorah, H6881 of the family H4940 of the Danites, H1839 whose name H8034 was Manoah; H4495 and his wife H802 was barren, H6135 and bare H3205 not. And the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 appeared H7200 unto the woman, H802 and said H559 unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, H6135 and bearest H3205 not: but thou shalt conceive, H2029 and bear H3205 a son. H1121
And the LORD H3068 said, H559 I have surely H7200 seen H7200 the affliction H6040 of my people H5971 which are in Egypt, H4714 and have heard H8085 their cry H6818 by reason H6440 of their taskmasters; H5065 for I know H3045 their sorrows; H4341
And when Rachel H7354 saw H7200 that she bare H3205 Jacob H3290 no children, Rachel H7354 envied H7065 her sister; H269 and said H559 unto Jacob, H3290 Give H3051 me children, H1121 or else H369 I die. H4191 And Jacob's H3290 anger H639 was kindled H2734 against Rachel: H7354 and he said, H559 Am I in God's H430 stead, who hath withheld H4513 from thee the fruit H6529 of the womb? H990
And Esau H6215 hated H7852 Jacob H3290 because H5921 of the blessing H1293 wherewith H834 his father H1 blessed him: H1288 and Esau H6215 said H559 in his heart, H3820 The days H3117 of mourning H60 for my father H1 are at hand; H7126 then will I slay H2026 my brother H251 Jacob. H3290

Chapter 29
This chapter gives us an account of God's providences concerning Jacob, pursuant to the promises made to him in the foregoing chapter.
Gen 29:1-8
All the stages Israel's march to Canaan are distinctly noticed, but no particular journal is kept of Jacob's expedition further than Beth-el; no, he had no more such happy nights as he had at Beth-el, no more such visions of the Almighty. That was intended for a feast; he must not expect it to be his daily bread. But,
