21 And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 did H6213 so: and Joseph H3130 gave H5414 them wagons, H5699 according to the commandment H6310 of Pharaoh, H6547 and gave H5414 them provision H6720 for the way. H1870
Now thou art commanded, H6680 this do H6213 ye; take H3947 you wagons H5699 out of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 for your little ones, H2945 and for your wives, H802 and bring H5375 your father, H1 and come. H935
And they told H1696 him all the words H1697 of Joseph, H3130 which he had said H1696 unto them: and when he saw H7200 the wagons H5699 which Joseph H3130 had sent H7971 to carry H5375 him, the spirit H7307 of Jacob H3290 their father H1 revived: H2421
And all the congregation H5712 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 journeyed H5265 from the wilderness H4057 of Sin, H5512 after their journeys, H4550 according to the commandment H6310 of the LORD, H3068 and pitched H2583 in Rephidim: H7508 and there was no water H4325 for the people H5971 to drink. H8354
And Moses H4872 numbered H6485 them according to the word H6310 of the LORD, H3068 as he was commanded. H6680
And they brought H935 their offering H7133 before H6440 the LORD, H3068 six H8337 covered H6632 wagons, H5699 and twelve H6240 oxen; H1241 a wagon H5699 for two H8147 of the princes, H5387 and for each one H259 an ox: H7794 and they brought H7126 them before H6440 the tabernacle. H4908 And the LORD H3068 spake H559 unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 Take H3947 it of them, that they may be to do H5647 the service H5656 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation; H4150 and thou shalt give H5414 them unto the Levites, H3881 to every man H376 according H6310 to his service. H5656 And Moses H4872 took H3947 the wagons H5699 and the oxen, H1241 and gave H5414 them unto the Levites. H3881 Two H8147 wagons H5699 and four H702 oxen H1241 he gave H5414 unto the sons H1121 of Gershon, H1648 according H6310 to their service: H5656 And four H702 wagons H5699 and eight H8083 oxen H1241 he gave H5414 unto the sons H1121 of Merari, H4847 according H6310 unto their service, H5656 under the hand H3027 of Ithamar H385 the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest. H3548 But unto the sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 he gave H5414 none: H3808 because the service H5656 of the sanctuary H6944 belonging unto them was that they should bear H5375 upon their shoulders. H3802
Even after a certain rate H1697 every day, H3117 offering H5927 according to the commandment H4687 of Moses, H4872 on the sabbaths, H7676 and on the new moons, H2320 and on the solemn feasts, H4150 three H7969 times H6471 in the year, H8141 even in the feast H2282 of unleavened bread, H4682 and in the feast H2282 of weeks, H7620 and in the feast H2282 of tabernacles. H5521
The LORD H3068 is righteous; H6662 for I have rebelled H4784 against his commandment: H6310 hear, H8085 I pray you, all people, H5971 and behold H7200 my sorrow: H4341 my virgins H1330 and my young men H970 are gone H1980 into captivity. H7628
And they shall come H935 against thee with chariots, H2021 wagons, H7393 and wheels, H1534 and with an assembly H6951 of people, H5971 which shall set H7760 against thee buckler H6793 and shield H4043 and helmet H6959 round about: H5439 and I will set H5414 judgment H4941 before H6440 them, and they shall judge H8199 thee according to their judgments. Commentary on Genesis 45 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 45
It is a pity that this chapter and the foregoing should be parted, and read asunder. There we had Judah's intercession for Benjamin, with which, we may suppose, the rest of his brethren signified their concurrence; Joseph let him go on without interruption, heard all he had to say, and then answered it all in one word, "I am Joseph.' Now he found his brethren humbled for their sins, mindful of himself (for Judah had mentioned him twice in his speech), respectful to their father, and very tender of their brother Benjamin; now they were ripe for the comfort he designed them, by making himself known to them, the story of which we have in this chapter. It was to Joseph's brethren as clear shining after rain, nay, it was to them as life from the dead. Here is,
Gen 45:1-15
Judah and his brethren were waiting for an answer, and could not but be amazed to discover, instead of the gravity of a judge, the natural affection of a father or brother.
Gen 45:16-24
Here is,
Gen 45:25-28
We have here the good news brought to Jacob.
