1 And Joseph H3130 fell H5307 upon his father's H1 face, H6440 and wept H1058 upon him, and kissed H5401 him.
I will go down H3381 with thee into Egypt; H4714 and I will also surely H5927 bring thee up H5927 again: and Joseph H3130 shall put H7896 his hand H3027 upon thine eyes. H5869
And Sarah H8283 died H4191 in Kirjatharba; H7153 the same is Hebron H2275 in the land H776 of Canaan: H3667 and Abraham H85 came H935 to mourn H5594 for Sarah, H8283 and to weep H1058 for her.
And thou shalt teach them diligently H8150 unto thy children, H1121 and shalt talk H1696 of them when thou sittest H3427 in thine house, H1004 and when thou walkest H3212 by the way, H1870 and when thou liest down, H7901 and when thou risest up. H6965 And thou shalt bind H7194 them for a sign H226 upon thine hand, H3027 and they shall be as frontlets H2903 between thine eyes. H5869
Now Elisha H477 was fallen sick H2470 of his sickness H2483 whereof he died. H4191 And Joash H3101 the king H4428 of Israel H3478 came down H3381 unto him, and wept H1058 over his face, H6440 and said, H559 O my father, H1 my father, H1 the chariot H7393 of Israel, H3478 and the horsemen H6571 thereof.
And G2532 he cometh G2064 to G1519 the house G3624 of the ruler of the synagogue, G752 and G2532 seeth G2334 the tumult, G2351 and them that wept G2799 and G2532 wailed G214 greatly. G4183 And G2532 when he was come in, G1525 he saith G3004 unto them, G846 Why G5101 make ye this ado, G2350 and G2532 weep? G2799 the damsel G3813 is G599 not G3756 dead, G599 but G235 sleepeth. G2518
Jesus G2424 wept. G1145 Then G3767 said G3004 the Jews, G2453 Behold G2396 how G4459 he loved G5368 him! G846 And G1161 some G5100 of G1537 them G846 said, G2036 Could G1410 not G3756 this man, G3778 which G3588 opened G455 the eyes G3788 of the blind, G5185 have caused G4160 that G2443 even G2532 this man G3778 should G599 not G3361 have died? G599 Jesus G2424 therefore G3767 again G3825 groaning G1690 in G1722 himself G1438 cometh G2064 to G1519 the grave. G3419 G1161 It was G2258 a cave, G4693 and G2532 a stone G3037 lay G1945 upon G1909 it. G846
And G1161 devout G2126 men G435 carried G4792 Stephen G4736 to his burial, and G2532 made G4160 great G3173 lamentation G2870 over G1909 him. G846
And, G2532 ye fathers, G3962 provoke G3949 not G3361 your G5216 children G5043 to wrath: G3949 but G235 bring G1625 them G846 up G1625 in G1722 the nurture G3809 and G2532 admonition G3559 of the Lord. G2962

Commentary on Genesis 50 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 50
Here is,
Thus the book of Genesis, which began with the origin of light and life, ends with nothing but death and darkness; so sad a change has sin made.
Gen 50:1-6
Joseph is here paying his last respects to his deceased father.
Gen 50:7-14
We have here an account of Jacob's funeral. Of the funerals of the kings of Judah, usually, no more is said than this, They were buried with their fathers in the city of David: but the funeral of the patriarch Jacob is more largely and fully described, to show how much better God was to him than he expected (he had spoken more than once of dying for grief, and going to the grave bereaved of his children, but, behold, he dies in honour, and is followed to the grave by all his children), and also because his orders concerning his burial were given and observed in faith, and in expectation both of the earthly and of the heavenly Canaan. Gen 50:15-21
We have here the settling of a good correspondence between Joseph and his brethren, now that their father was dead. Joseph was at court, in the royal city; his brethren were in Goshen, remote in the country; yet the keeping up of a good understanding, and a good affection, between them, would be both his honour and their interest. Note, When Providence has removed the parents by death, the best methods ought to be taken, not only for the preventing of quarrels among the children (which often happen about the dividing of the estate), but for the preserving of acquaintance and love, that unity may continue even when that centre of unity is taken away.
