1 Therefore G1223 G5124 we G2248 ought G1163 to give the more earnest G4056 heed G4337 to the things which we have heard, G191 lest at any time G3379 we should let them slip. G3901
God, G2316 who at sundry times G4181 and G2532 in divers manners G4187 spake G2980 in time past G3819 unto the fathers G3962 by G1722 the prophets, G4396 Hath G2980 in G1909 these G5130 last G2078 days G2250 spoken G2980 unto us G2254 by G1722 his Son, G5207 whom G3739 he hath appointed G5087 heir G2818 of all things, G3956 by G1223 whom G3739 also G2532 he made G4160 the worlds; G165
Wherefore G1352 I will G272 not G3756 be negligent G272 to put G5279 you G5209 always G104 in remembrance G5279 of G4012 these things, G5130 though G2539 ye know G1492 them, and G2532 be established G4741 in G1722 the present G3918 truth. G225 Yea, G1161 I think it G2233 meet, G1342 as long as G1909 G3745 I am G1510 in G1722 this G5129 tabernacle, G4638 to stir G1326 you G5209 up G1326 by G1722 putting you in remembrance; G5280
Take good H3966 heed H8104 therefore unto yourselves, H5315 that ye love H157 the LORD H3068 your God. H430 Else if ye do in any wise H7725 go back, H7725 and cleave H1692 unto the remnant H3499 of these nations, H1471 even these that remain H7604 among you, and shall make marriages H2859 with them, and go in H935 unto them, and they to you:
My son, H1121 keep H8104 my words, H561 and lay up H6845 my commandments H4687 with thee. Keep H8104 my commandments, H4687 and live; H2421 and my law H8451 as the apple H380 of thine eye. H5869
My son, H1121 if thou wilt receive H3947 my words, H561 and hide H6845 my commandments H4687 with thee; So that thou incline H7181 thine ear H241 unto wisdom, H2451 and apply H5186 thine heart H3820 to understanding; H8394 Yea, if thou criest H7121 after knowledge, H998 and liftest up H5414 thy voice H6963 for understanding; H8394 If thou seekest H1245 her as silver, H3701 and searchest H2664 for her as for hid treasures; H4301 Then shalt thou understand H995 the fear H3374 of the LORD, H3068 and find H4672 the knowledge H1847 of God. H430 For the LORD H3068 giveth H5414 wisdom: H2451 out of his mouth H6310 cometh knowledge H1847 and understanding. H8394
And he said H559 unto them, Set H7760 your hearts H3824 unto all the words H1697 which I testify H5749 among you this day, H3117 which ye shall command H6680 your children H1121 to observe H8104 to do, H6213 all the words H1697 of this law. H8451 For it is not a vain H7386 thing H1697 for you; because it is your life: H2416 and through this thing H1697 ye shall prolong H748 your days H3117 in the land, H127 whither ye go over H5674 Jordan H3383 to possess H3423 it.
See G991 that ye refuse G3868 not G3361 him that speaketh. G2980 For G1063 if G1487 they G1565 escaped G5343 not G3756 who refused him G3868 that spake G5537 on G1909 earth, G1093 much G4183 more G3123 shall not we G2249 escape, if we turn away from him G654 that speaketh from G575 heaven: G3772 Whose G3739 voice G5456 then G5119 shook G4531 the earth: G1093 but G1161 now G3568 he hath promised, G1861 saying, G3004 Yet G2089 once more G530 I G1473 shake G4579 not G3756 the earth G1093 only, G3440 but G235 also G2532 heaven. G3772
For G1063 if G1487 the word G3056 spoken G2980 by G1223 angels G32 was G1096 stedfast, G949 and G2532 every G3956 transgression G3847 and G2532 disobedience G3876 received G2983 a just G1738 recompence of reward; G3405 How G4459 shall we G2249 escape, G1628 if we neglect G272 so great G5082 salvation; G4991 which G3748 at the first G746 began G2983 to be spoken G2980 by G1223 the Lord, G2962 and was confirmed G950 unto G1519 us G2248 by G5259 them that heard G191 him; God G2316 also bearing them witness, G4901 both G5037 with signs G4592 and G2532 wonders, G5059 and G2532 with divers G4164 miracles, G1411 and G2532 gifts G3311 of the Holy G40 Ghost, G4151 according to G2596 his own G846 will? G2308
My son, H1121 attend H7181 to my words; H1697 incline H5186 thine ear H241 unto my sayings. H561 Let them not depart H3868 from thine eyes; H5869 keep H8104 them in the midst H8432 of thine heart. H3824 For they are life H2416 unto those that find H4672 them, and health H4832 to all their flesh. H1320
Hear, H8085 ye children, H1121 the instruction H4148 of a father, H1 and attend H7181 to know H3045 understanding. H998 For I give H5414 you good H2896 doctrine, H3948 forsake H5800 ye not my law. H8451 For I was my father's H1 son, H1121 tender H7390 and only H3173 beloved in the sight H6440 of my mother. H517 He taught H3384 me also, and said H559 unto me, Let thine heart H3820 retain H8551 my words: H1697 keep H8104 my commandments, H4687 and live. H2421

Commentary on Hebrews 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
In this chapter the apostle,
Hbr 2:1-4
The apostle proceeds in the plain profitable method of doctrine, reason, and use, through this epistle. Here we have the application of the truths before asserted and proved; this is brought in by the illative particle therefore, with which this chapter begins, and which shows its connection with the former, where the apostle having proved Christ to be superior to the angels by whose ministry the law was given, and therefore that the gospel dispensation must be more excellent than the legal, he now comes to apply this doctrine both by way of exhortation and argument.
Hbr 2:5-9
The apostle, having made this serious application of the doctrine of the personal excellency of Christ above the angels, now returns to that pleasant subject again, and pursues it further (v. 5): For to the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
Hbr 2:10-13
Having mentioned the death of Christ, the apostle here proceeds to prevent and remove the scandal of the cross; and this he does by showing both how it became God that Christ should suffer and how much man should be benefited by those sufferings.
Hbr 2:14-18
Here the apostle proceeds to assert the incarnation of Christ, as taking upon him not the nature of angels, but the seed of Abraham; and he shows the reason and design of his so doing.
