2 Open H6605 ye the gates, H8179 that the righteous H6662 nation H1471 which keepeth H8104 the truth H529 may enter in. H935
Therefore thy gates H8179 shall be open H6605 continually; H8548 they shall not be shut H5462 day H3119 nor night; H3915 that men may bring H935 unto thee the forces H2428 of the Gentiles, H1471 and that their kings H4428 may be brought. H5090
This gate H8179 of the LORD, H3068 into which the righteous H6662 shall enter. H935
But G1161 ye G5210 are a chosen G1588 generation, G1085 a royal G934 priesthood, G2406 an holy G40 nation, G1484 a peculiar G1519 G4047 people; G2992 that G3704 ye should shew forth G1804 the praises G703 of him who hath called G2564 you G5209 out of G1537 darkness G4655 into G1519 his G846 marvellous G2298 light: G5457
And the Gentiles H1471 shall see H7200 thy righteousness, H6664 and all kings H4428 thy glory: H3519 and thou shalt be called H7121 by a new H2319 name, H5344 which the mouth H6310 of the LORD H3068 shall name. H8034
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom H4467 of priests, H3548 and an holy H6918 nation. H1471 These are the words H1697 which thou shalt speak H1696 unto the children H1121 of Israel. H3478
And G2532 they sung G103 a new G2537 song, G5603 saying, G3004 Thou art G1488 worthy G514 to take G2983 the book, G975 and G2532 to open G455 the seals G4973 thereof: G846 for G3754 thou wast slain, G4969 and G2532 hast redeemed G59 us G2248 to God G2316 by G1722 thy G4675 blood G129 out of G1537 every G3956 kindred, G5443 and G2532 tongue, G1100 and G2532 people, G2992 and G2532 nation; G1484
Beloved, G27 when I gave G4160 all G3956 diligence G4710 to write G1125 unto you G5213 of G4012 the common G2839 salvation, G4991 it was G2192 needful G318 for me G2192 to write G1125 unto you, G5213 and exhort G3870 you that ye should earnestly contend G1864 for the faith G4102 which was once G530 delivered G3860 unto the saints. G40
Nevertheless G1161 we, G4328 according to G2596 his G846 promise, G1862 look for G4328 new G2537 heavens G3772 and G2532 a new G2537 earth, G1093 wherein G1722 G3739 dwelleth G2730 righteousness. G1343
Thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 of hosts; H6635 It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come H935 people, H5971 and the inhabitants H3427 of many H7227 cities: H5892
And the gates H8179 of the city H5892 shall be after the names H8034 of the tribes H7626 of Israel: H3478 three H7969 gates H8179 northward; H6828 one H259 gate H8179 of Reuben, H7205 one H259 gate H8179 of Judah, H3063 one H259 gate H8179 of Levi. H3878 And at the east H6921 side H6285 four H702 thousand H505 and five H2568 hundred: H3967 and three H7969 gates; H8179 and one H259 gate H8179 of Joseph, H3130 one H259 gate H8179 of Benjamin, H1144 one H259 gate H8179 of Dan. H1835 And at the south H5045 side H6285 four H702 thousand H505 and five H2568 hundred H3967 measures: H4060 and three H7969 gates; H8179 one H259 gate H8179 of Simeon, H8095 one H259 gate H8179 of Issachar, H3485 one H259 gate H8179 of Zebulun. H2074 At the west H3220 side H6285 four H702 thousand H505 and five H2568 hundred, H3967 with their three H7969 gates; H8179 one H259 gate H8179 of Gad, H1410 one H259 gate H8179 of Asher, H836 one H259 gate H8179 of Naphtali. H5321
Then shall thy light H216 break forth H1234 as the morning, H7837 and thine health H724 shall spring forth H6779 speedily: H4120 and thy righteousness H6664 shall go H1980 before H6440 thee; the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 shall be thy rereward. H622
That I may see H7200 the good H2896 of thy chosen, H972 that I may rejoice H8055 in the gladness H8057 of thy nation, H1471 that I may glory H1984 with thine inheritance. H5159
Keep H8104 therefore and do H6213 them; for this is your wisdom H2451 and your understanding H998 in the sight H5869 of the nations, H5971 which shall hear H8085 all these statutes, H2706 and say, H559 Surely this great H1419 nation H1471 is a wise H2450 and understanding H995 people. H5971 For what nation H1471 is there so great, H1419 who hath God H430 so nigh H7138 unto them, as the LORD H3068 our God H430 is in all things that we call H7121 upon him for? And what nation H1471 is there so great, H1419 that hath statutes H2706 and judgments H4941 so righteous H6662 as all this law, H8451 which I set H5414 before H6440 you this day? H3117

Commentary on Isaiah 26 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 26
This chapter is a song of holy joy and praise, in which the great things God had engaged, in the foregoing chapter, to do for his people against his enemies and their enemies are celebrated: it is prepared to be sung when that prophecy should be accomplished; for we must be forward to meet God with our thanksgivings when he is coming towards us with his mercies. Now the people of God are here taught,
And this is written for the support and assistance of the faith and hope of God's people in all ages, even those upon whom the ends of the world have come.
Isa 26:1-4
To the prophecies of gospel grace very fitly is a song annexed, in which we may give God the glory and take to ourselves the comfort of that grace: In that day, the gospel day, which the day of the victories and enlargements of the Old-Testament church was typical of (to some of which perhaps this has a primary reference), in that day this song shall be sung; there shall be persons to sing it, and cause and hearts to sing it; it shall be sung in the land of Judah, which was a figure of the gospel church; for the gospel covenant is said to be made with the house of Judah, Heb. 8:8. Glorious things are here said of the church of God.
Isa 26:5-11
Here the prophet further encourages us to trust in the Lord for ever, and to continue waiting on him; for,
Isa 26:12-19
The prophet in these verses looks back upon what God had done with them, both in mercy and judgment, and sings unto God of both, and then looks forward upon what he hoped God would do for them. Observe,
Isa 26:20-21
These two verses are supposed not to belong to the song which takes up the rest of the chapter, but to begin a new matter, and to be rather an introduction to the following chapter than the conclusion of this. Of whereas, in the foregoing song, the people of God had spoken to him, complaining of their grievances, here he returns an answer to their complaints, in which,
