20 Come, H3212 my people, H5971 enter H935 thou into thy chambers, H2315 and shut H5462 thy doors H1817 about thee: hide H2247 thyself as it were for a little H4592 moment, H7281 until the indignation H2195 be overpast. H5674
He shall cover H5526 thee with his feathers, H84 and under his wings H3671 shalt thou trust: H2620 his truth H571 shall be thy shield H6793 and buckler. H5507
For his anger H639 endureth but a moment; H7281 in his favour H7522 is life: H2416 weeping H1065 may endure H3885 for a night, H6153 but joy H7440 cometh in the morning. H1242
For a small H6996 moment H7281 have I forsaken H5800 thee; but with great H1419 mercies H7356 will I gather H6908 thee. In a little H8241 wrath H7110 I hid H5641 my face H6440 from thee for a moment; H7281 but with everlasting H5769 kindness H2617 will I have mercy H7355 on thee, saith H559 the LORD H3068 thy Redeemer. H1350
He that dwelleth H3427 in the secret H5643 place of the most High H5945 shall abide H3885 under the shadow H6738 of the Almighty. H7706
For G1063 our G2257 light G1645 affliction, G2347 which G3588 is but for a moment, G3910 worketh G2716 for us G2254 a far G2596 G5236 more exceeding G1519 G5236 and eternal G166 weight G922 of glory; G1391
But G1161 thou, G4771 when G3752 thou prayest, G4336 enter G1525 into G1519 thy G4675 closet, G5009 and G2532 when thou hast shut G2808 thy G4675 door, G2374 pray G4336 to thy G4675 Father G3962 which G3588 is in G1722 secret; G2927 and G2532 thy G4675 Father G3962 which G3588 seeth G991 in G1722 secret G2927 shall reward G591 thee G4671 openly. G1722 G5318
And I have put H7760 my words H1697 in thy mouth, H6310 and I have covered H3680 thee in the shadow H6738 of mine hand, H3027 that I may plant H5193 the heavens, H8064 and lay the foundations H3245 of the earth, H776 and say H559 unto Zion, H6726 Thou art my people. H5971
For in the time H3117 of trouble H7451 he shall hide H6845 me in his pavilion: H5520 in the secret H5643 of his tabernacle H168 shall he hide H5641 me; he shall set me up H7311 upon a rock. H6697
Keep H8104 me as the apple H380 of the eye, H1323 H5869 hide H5641 me under the shadow H6738 of thy wings, H3671
O Jerusalem, G2419 Jerusalem, G2419 thou that killest G615 the prophets, G4396 and G2532 stonest G3036 them which are sent G649 unto G4314 thee, G846 how often G4212 would I G2309 have gathered G1996 thy G4675 G3739 children G5043 together, G1996 even as G5158 a hen G3733 gathereth G1996 her G1438 chickens G3556 under G5259 her wings, G4420 and G2532 ye would G2309 not! G3756
Therefore say, H559 Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Although I have cast them far off H7368 among the heathen, H1471 and although I have scattered H6327 them among the countries, H776 yet will I be to them as a little H4592 sanctuary H4720 in the countries H776 where they shall come. H935
Thou art my hiding place; H5643 thou shalt preserve H5341 me from trouble; H6862 thou shalt compass H5437 me about with songs H7438 of deliverance. H6405 Selah. H5542
And ye shall take H3947 a bunch H92 of hyssop, H231 and dip H2881 it in the blood H1818 that is in the bason, H5592 and strike H5060 the lintel H4947 and the two H8147 side posts H4201 with the blood H1818 that is in the bason; H5592 and none H376 of you shall go out H3318 at the door H6607 of his house H1004 until the morning. H1242 For the LORD H3068 will pass through H5674 to smite H5062 the Egyptians; H4714 and when he seeth H7200 the blood H1818 upon the lintel, H4947 and on the two H8147 side posts, H4201 the LORD H3068 will pass over H6452 the door, H6607 and will not suffer H5414 the destroyer H7843 to come H935 in unto your houses H1004 to smite H5062 you.
And they that went in, H935 went in H935 male H2145 and female H5347 of all flesh, H1320 as God H430 had commanded H6680 him: and the LORD H3068 shut him in. H5462
[[To the chief Musician, H5329 Altaschith, H516 Michtam H4387 of David, H1732 when he fled H1272 from H6440 Saul H7586 in the cave.]] H4631 Be merciful H2603 unto me, O God, H430 be merciful H2603 unto me: for my soul H5315 trusteth H2620 in thee: yea, in the shadow H6738 of thy wings H3671 will I make my refuge, H2620 until these calamities H1942 be overpast. H5674
Deliver H5337 me, O LORD, H3068 from mine enemies: H341 I flee unto thee to hide H3680 me.
And I will satiate H7301 the soul H5315 of the priests H3548 with fatness, H1880 and my people H5971 shall be satisfied H7646 with my goodness, H2898 saith H5002 the LORD. H3068
And my people H5971 shall dwell H3427 in a peaceable H7965 habitation, H5116 and in sure H4009 dwellings, H4908 and in quiet H7600 resting places; H4496 When it shall hail, H1258 coming down H3381 on the forest; H3293 and the city H5892 shall be low H8213 in a low place. H8218

Commentary on Isaiah 26 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 26
This chapter is a song of holy joy and praise, in which the great things God had engaged, in the foregoing chapter, to do for his people against his enemies and their enemies are celebrated: it is prepared to be sung when that prophecy should be accomplished; for we must be forward to meet God with our thanksgivings when he is coming towards us with his mercies. Now the people of God are here taught,
And this is written for the support and assistance of the faith and hope of God's people in all ages, even those upon whom the ends of the world have come.
Isa 26:1-4
To the prophecies of gospel grace very fitly is a song annexed, in which we may give God the glory and take to ourselves the comfort of that grace: In that day, the gospel day, which the day of the victories and enlargements of the Old-Testament church was typical of (to some of which perhaps this has a primary reference), in that day this song shall be sung; there shall be persons to sing it, and cause and hearts to sing it; it shall be sung in the land of Judah, which was a figure of the gospel church; for the gospel covenant is said to be made with the house of Judah, Heb. 8:8. Glorious things are here said of the church of God.
Isa 26:5-11
Here the prophet further encourages us to trust in the Lord for ever, and to continue waiting on him; for,
Isa 26:12-19
The prophet in these verses looks back upon what God had done with them, both in mercy and judgment, and sings unto God of both, and then looks forward upon what he hoped God would do for them. Observe,
Isa 26:20-21
These two verses are supposed not to belong to the song which takes up the rest of the chapter, but to begin a new matter, and to be rather an introduction to the following chapter than the conclusion of this. Of whereas, in the foregoing song, the people of God had spoken to him, complaining of their grievances, here he returns an answer to their complaints, in which,
