19 From the time H1767 that it goeth forth H5674 it shall take H3947 you: for morning H1242 by morning H1242 shall it pass over, H5674 by day H3117 and by night: H3915 and it shall be a vexation H2113 only to understand H995 the report. H8052
Then came H935 Eliakim, H471 the son H1121 of Hilkiah, H2518 that was over the household, H1004 and Shebna H7644 the scribe, H5608 and Joah, H3098 the son H1121 of Asaph, H623 the recorder, H2142 to Hezekiah H2396 with their clothes H899 rent, H7167 and told H5046 him the words H1697 of Rabshakeh. H7262
And G2532 there shall be G2071 signs G4592 in G1722 the sun, G2246 and G2532 in the moon, G4582 and G2532 in the stars; G798 and G2532 upon G1909 the earth G1093 distress G4928 of nations, G1484 with G1722 perplexity; G640 the sea G2281 and G2532 the waves G4535 roaring; G2278 Men's G444 hearts failing them G674 for G575 fear, G5401 and G2532 for looking after G4329 those things which are coming on G1904 the earth: G3625 for G1063 the powers G1411 of heaven G3772 shall be shaken. G4531
When I heard, H8085 my belly H990 trembled; H7264 my lips H8193 quivered H6750 at the voice: H6963 rottenness H7538 entered H935 into my bones, H6106 and I trembled H7264 in myself, that I might rest H5117 in the day H3117 of trouble: H6869 when he cometh up H5927 unto the people, H5971 he will invade them with his troops. H1464
And I Daniel H1840 fainted, H1961 and was sick H2470 certain days; H3117 afterward I rose up, H6965 and did H6213 the king's H4428 business; H4399 and I was astonished H8074 at the vision, H4758 but none understood H995 it.
Hitherto H5705 H3542 is the end H5491 of the matter. H4406 As for me H576 Daniel, H1841 my cogitations H7476 much H7690 troubled H927 me, and my countenance H2122 changed H8133 in me: H5922 but I kept H5202 the matter H4406 in my heart. H3821
Also, thou son H1121 of man, H120 appoint H7760 thee two H8147 ways, H1870 that the sword H2719 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 may come: H935 both twain H8147 shall come forth H3318 out of one H259 land: H776 and choose H1254 thou a place, H3027 choose H1254 it at the head H7218 of the way H1870 to the city. H5892 Appoint H7760 a way, H1870 that the sword H2719 may come H935 to Rabbath H7237 of the Ammonites, H1121 H5983 and to Judah H3063 in Jerusalem H3389 the defenced. H1219 For the king H4428 of Babylon H894 stood H5975 at the parting H517 of the way, H1870 at the head H7218 of the two H8147 ways, H1870 to use H7080 divination: H7081 he made his arrows H2671 bright, H7043 he consulted H7592 with images, H8655 he looked H7200 in the liver. H3516 At his right hand H3225 was the divination H7081 for Jerusalem, H3389 to appoint H7760 captains, H3733 to open H6605 the mouth H6310 in the slaughter, H7524 to lift up H7311 the voice H6963 with shouting, H8643 to appoint H7760 battering rams H3733 against the gates, H8179 to cast H8210 a mount, H5550 and to build H1129 a fort. H1785 And it shall be unto them as a false H7723 divination H7080 in their sight, H5869 to them that have sworn H7650 oaths: H7621 but he will call to remembrance H2142 the iniquity, H5771 that they may be taken. H8610
And say, H559 Hear H8085 ye the word H1697 of the LORD, H3068 O kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 and inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem; H3389 Thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will bring H935 evil H7451 upon this place, H4725 the which whosoever heareth, H8085 his ears H241 shall tingle. H6750
The Lord H136 GOD H3069 hath given H5414 me the tongue H3956 of the learned, H3928 that I should know H3045 how to speak H5790 a word H1697 in season to him that is weary: H3287 he wakeneth H5782 morning H1242 by morning, H1242 he wakeneth H5782 mine ear H241 to hear H8085 as the learned. H3928
And the LORD H3068 said H559 to Samuel, H8050 Behold, I will do H6213 a thing H1697 in Israel, H3478 at which both H8147 the ears H241 of every one that heareth H8085 it shall tingle. H6750
Behold, their valiant ones H691 shall cry H6817 without: H2351 the ambassadors H4397 of peace H7965 shall weep H1058 bitterly. H4751
O H1945 Assyrian, H804 the rod H7626 of mine anger, H639 and the staff H4294 in their hand H3027 is mine indignation. H2195 I will send H7971 him against an hypocritical H2611 nation, H1471 and against the people H5971 of my wrath H5678 will I give him a charge, H6680 to take H7997 the spoil, H7998 and to take H962 the prey, H957 and to tread them down H7760 H4823 like the mire H2563 of the streets. H2351
Terrors H1091 shall make him afraid H1204 on every side, H5439 and shall drive H6327 him to his feet. H7272
And the LORD H3068 sent H7971 against him bands H1416 of the Chaldees, H3778 and bands H1416 of the Syrians, H758 and bands H1416 of the Moabites, H4124 and bands H1416 of the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 and sent H7971 them against Judah H3063 to destroy H6 it, according to the word H1697 of the LORD, H3068 which he spake H1696 by H3027 his servants H5650 the prophets. H5030
Now in the fourteenth H702 H6240 year H8141 of king H4428 Hezekiah H2396 did Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 come up H5927 against all the fenced H1219 cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and took H8610 them.
In the ninth H8671 year H8141 of Hoshea H1954 the king H4428 of Assyria H804 took H3920 Samaria, H8111 and carried H1540 Israel H3478 away H1540 into Assyria, H804 and placed H3427 them in Halah H2477 and in Habor H2249 by the river H5104 of Gozan, H1470 and in the cities H5892 of the Medes. H4074

Commentary on Isaiah 28 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 28
In this chapter,
This is written for our admonition, and is profitable for reproof and warning to us.
Isa 28:1-8
Here,
Isa 28:9-13
The prophet here complains of the wretched stupidity of this people, that they were unteachable and made no improvement of the means of grace which they possessed; they still continued as they were, their mistakes not rectified, their hearts not renewed, nor their lives reformed. Observe,
Isa 28:14-22
The prophet, having reproved those that made a jest of the word of God, here goes on to reprove those that made a jest of the judgments of God, and set them at defiance; for he is a jealous God, and will not suffer either his ordinances or his providences to be brought into contempt. He addressed himself to the scornful men who ruled in Jerusalem, who were the magistrates of the city, v. 14. It is bad with a people when their thrones of judgment become the seats of the scornful, when rulers are scorners; but that the rulers of Jerusalem should be men of such a character, that they should make light of God's judgments and scorn to take notice of the tokens of his displeasure, is very sad. Who will be mourners in Zion if they are scorners? Observe,
Isa 28:23-29
This parable, which (like many of our Saviour's parables) is borrowed from the husbandman's calling, is ushered in with a solemn preface demanding attention, He that has ears to hear, let him hear, hear and understand, v. 23.
