15 Can a woman H802 forget H7911 her sucking child, H5764 that she should not have compassion H7355 on the son H1121 of her womb? H990 yea, they may forget, H7911 yet will I not forget H7911 thee.
Remember H2142 these, O Jacob H3290 and Israel; H3478 for thou art my servant: H5650 I have formed H3335 thee; thou art my servant: H5650 O Israel, H3478 thou shalt not be forgotten H5382 of me.
When Israel H3478 was a child, H5288 then I loved H157 him, and called H7121 my son H1121 out of Egypt. H4714
Then spake H559 the woman H802 whose the living H2416 child H1121 was unto the king, H4428 for her bowels H7356 yearned H3648 upon her son, H1121 and she said, H559 O H994 my lord, H113 give H5414 her the living H2416 child, H3205 and in no wise H4191 slay H4191 it. But the other said, H559 Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide H1504 it. Then the king H4428 answered H6030 and said, H559 Give H5414 her the living H2416 child, H3205 and in no wise H4191 slay H4191 it: she is the mother H517 thereof.
And the king H4428 said H559 unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, H559 This woman H802 said H559 unto me, Give H5414 thy son, H1121 that we may eat H398 him to day, H3117 and we will eat H398 my son H1121 to morrow. H4279 So we boiled H1310 my son, H1121 and did eat H398 him: and I said H559 unto her on the next H312 day, H3117 Give H5414 thy son, H1121 that we may eat H398 him: and she hath hid H2244 her son. H1121
And when Athaliah H6271 the mother H517 of Ahaziah H274 saw H7200 that her son H1121 was dead, H4191 she arose H6965 and destroyed H6 all the seed H2233 royal. H4467 But Jehosheba, H3089 the daughter H1323 of king H4428 Joram, H3141 sister H269 of Ahaziah, H274 took H3947 Joash H3101 the son H1121 of Ahaziah, H274 and stole H1589 him from among H8432 the king's H4428 sons H1121 which were slain; H4191 and they hid H5641 him, even him and his nurse, H3243 in the bedchamber H2315 H4296 from H6440 Athaliah, H6271 so that he was not slain. H4191
Is Ephraim H669 my dear H3357 son? H1121 is he a pleasant H8191 child? H3206 for since H1767 I spake H1696 against him, I do earnestly H2142 remember H2142 him still: therefore my bowels H4578 are troubled H1993 for him; I will surely H7355 have mercy H7355 upon him, saith H5002 the LORD. H3068
And they shall be mine, saith H559 the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 in that day H3117 when I make up H6213 my jewels; H5459 and I will spare H2550 them, as a man H376 spareth H2550 his own son H1121 that serveth H5647 him.
If G1487 ye G5210 then, G3767 being G5607 evil, G4190 know G1492 how to give G1325 good G18 gifts G1390 unto your G5216 children, G5043 how much G4214 more G3123 shall your G5216 Father G3962 which G3588 is in G1722 heaven G3772 give G1325 good things G18 to them that ask G154 him? G846
As concerning G2596 G3303 the gospel, G2098 they are enemies G2190 for your sakes: G1223 G5209 but G1161 as touching G2596 the election, G1589 they are beloved G27 for G1223 the fathers' G3962 sakes. G1223 For G1063 the gifts G5486 and G2532 calling G2821 of God G2316 are without repentance. G278

Commentary on Isaiah 49 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 49
Glorious things had been spoken in the previous chapters concerning the deliverance of the Jews out of Babylon; but lest any should think, when it was accomplished, that it looked much greater and brighter in the prophecy than in the performance, and that the return of about 40,000 Jews in a poor condition out of Babylon to Jerusalem was not an event sufficiently answering to the height and grandeur of the expressions used in the prophecy, he here comes to show that the prophecy had a further intention, and was to have its full accomplishment in a redemption that should as far outdo these expressions as the other seemed to come short of them, even the redemption of the world by Jesus Christ, of whom not only Cyrus, who was God's servant in foretelling it, was a type. In this chapter we have,
If this chapter be rightly understood, we shall see ourselves to be more concerned in the prophecies relating to the Jews' deliverance out of Babylon than we thought we were.
Isa 49:1-6
Here,
Isa 49:7-12
In these verses we have,
Isa 49:13-17
The scope of these verses is to show that the return of the people of God out of their captivity, and the eternal redemption to be wrought out by Christ (of which that was a type), would be great occasions of joy to the church and great proofs of the tender care God has of the church.
Isa 49:18-23
Two things are here promised, which were to be in part accomplished in the reviving of the Jewish church after its return out of captivity, but more fully in the planting of the Christian church by the preaching of the gospel of Christ; and we may take the comfort of these promises.
Isa 49:24-26
