11 For as the earth H776 bringeth forth H3318 her bud, H6780 and as the garden H1593 causeth the things that are sown H2221 in it to spring forth; H6779 so the Lord H136 GOD H3069 will cause righteousness H6666 and praise H8416 to spring forth H6779 before all the nations. H1471
Truth H571 shall spring out H6779 of the earth; H776 and righteousness H6664 shall look down H8259 from heaven. H8064
And give H5414 him no rest, H1824 till he establish, H3559 and till he make H7760 Jerusalem H3389 a praise H8416 in the earth. H776
There shall be an handful H6451 of corn H1250 in the earth H776 upon the top H7218 of the mountains; H2022 the fruit H6529 thereof shall shake H7493 like Lebanon: H3844 and they of the city H5892 shall flourish H6692 like grass H6212 of the earth. H776
Drop down, H7491 ye heavens, H8064 from above, H4605 and let the skies H7834 pour down H5140 righteousness: H6664 let the earth H776 open, H6605 and let them bring forth H6509 salvation, H3468 and let righteousness H6666 spring up H6779 together; H3162 I the LORD H3068 have created H1254 it.
For as the rain H1653 cometh down, H3381 and the snow H7950 from heaven, H8064 and returneth H7725 not thither, but watereth H7301 the earth, H776 and maketh it bring forth H3205 and bud, H6779 that it may give H5414 seed H2233 to the sower, H2232 and bread H3899 to the eater: H398 So shall my word H1697 be that goeth forth H3318 out of my mouth: H6310 it shall not return H7725 unto me void, H7387 but it shall accomplish H6213 that which I please, H2654 and it shall prosper H6743 in the thing whereto I sent H7971 it.
And G2532 he spake G2980 many things G4183 unto them G846 in G1722 parables, G3850 saying, G3004 Behold, G2400 a sower G4687 went forth G1831 to sow; G4687
But G1161 other G243 fell G4098 into G1909 good G2570 ground, G1093 and G2532 brought forth G1325 fruit, G2590 some G3739 G3303 an hundredfold, G1540 G1161 some G3739 sixtyfold, G1835 G1161 some G3739 thirtyfold. G5144
But G1161 he that received seed G4687 into G1909 the good G2570 ground G1093 is G2076 he G3778 that heareth G191 the word, G3056 and G2532 understandeth G4920 it; which G3739 also G1211 beareth fruit, G2592 and G2532 bringeth forth, G4160 some G3739 G3303 an hundredfold, G1540 G1161 some G3739 sixty, G1835 G1161 some G3739 thirty. G5144
And G2532 he said, G3004 So G3779 is G2076 the kingdom G932 of God, G2316 as G5613 if G1437 a man G444 should cast G906 seed G4703 into G1909 the ground; G1093 And G2532 should sleep, G2518 and G2532 rise G1453 night G3571 and G2532 day, G2250 and G2532 the seed G4703 should spring G985 and G2532 grow up, G3373 he G846 knoweth G1492 not G3756 how. G5613 For G1063 the earth G1093 bringeth forth fruit G2592 of herself; G844 first G4412 the blade, G5528 then G1534 the ear, G4719 after that G1534 the full G4134 corn G4621 in G1722 the ear. G4719 But G1161 when G3752 the fruit G2590 is brought forth, G3860 immediately G2112 he putteth in G649 the sickle, G1407 because G3754 the harvest G2326 is come. G3936 And G2532 he said, G3004 Whereunto G5101 shall we liken G3666 the kingdom G932 of God? G2316 or G2228 with G1722 what G4169 comparison G3850 shall we compare G3846 it? G846 It is like G5613 a grain G2848 of mustard seed, G4615 which, G3739 when G3752 it is sown G4687 in G1909 the earth, G1093 is less G3398 than all G3956 the seeds G4690 that be G2076 in G1909 the earth: G1093 But G2532 when G3752 it is sown, G4687 it groweth up, G305 and G2532 becometh G1096 greater than G3187 all G3956 herbs, G3001 and G2532 shooteth out G4160 great G3173 branches; G2798 so that G5620 the fowls G4071 of the air G3772 may G1410 lodge G2681 under G5259 the shadow G4639 of it. G846
But G1161 ye G5210 are a chosen G1588 generation, G1085 a royal G934 priesthood, G2406 an holy G40 nation, G1484 a peculiar G1519 G4047 people; G2992 that G3704 ye should shew forth G1804 the praises G703 of him who hath called G2564 you G5209 out of G1537 darkness G4655 into G1519 his G846 marvellous G2298 light: G5457

Commentary on Isaiah 61 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 61
In this chapter,
If the Jewish church was ever thus blessed, much more shall the Christian church be so, and all that belong to it.
Isa 61:1-3
He that is the best expositor of scripture has no doubt given us the best exposition of these verses, even our Lord Jesus himself, who read this in the synagogue at Nazareth (perhaps it was the lesson for the day) and applied it entirely to himself, saying, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears (Lu. 4:17, 18, 21); and the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, in the opening of this text, were admired by all that heard them. As Isaiah was authorized and directed to proclaim liberty to the Jews in Babylon, so was Christ, God's messenger, to publish a more joyful jubilee to a lost world. And here we are told,
Isa 61:4-9
Promises are here made to the Jews now returned out of captivity, and settled again in their own land, which are to be extended to the gospel church, and all believers, who through grace are delivered out of spiritual thraldom; for they are capable of being spiritually applied.
Isa 61:10-11
Some make this the song of joy and praise to be sung by the prophet in the name of Jerusalem, congratulating her on the happy change of her circumstances in the accomplishment of the foregoing promises; others make it to be spoken by Christ in the name of the New-Testament church triumphing in gospel grace. We may take in both, the former as a type of the latter. We are here taught to rejoice with holy joy, to God's honour,
