5 They come H935 to fight H3898 with the Chaldeans, H3778 but it is to fill H4390 them with the dead bodies H6297 of men, H120 whom I have slain H5221 in mine anger H639 and in my fury, H2534 and for all whose wickedness H7451 I have hid H5641 my face H6440 from this city. H5892
Thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will turn back H5437 the weapons H3627 of war H4421 that are in your hands, H3027 wherewith ye fight H3898 against the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and against the Chaldeans, H3778 which besiege H6696 you without H2351 the walls, H2346 and I will assemble H622 them into the midst H8432 of this city. H5892 And I myself will fight H3898 against you with an outstretched H5186 hand H3027 and with a strong H2389 arm, H2220 even in anger, H639 and in fury, H2534 and in great H1419 wrath. H7110 And I will smite H5221 the inhabitants H3427 of this city, H5892 both man H120 and beast: H929 they shall die H4191 of a great H1419 pestilence. H1698 And afterward, H310 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 I will deliver H5414 Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and his servants, H5650 and the people, H5971 and such as are left H7604 in this city H5892 from the pestilence, H1698 from the sword, H2719 and from the famine, H7458 into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and into the hand H3027 of their enemies, H341 and into the hand H3027 of those that seek H1245 their life: H5315 and he shall smite H5221 them with the edge H6310 of the sword; H2719 he shall not spare H2347 them, neither have pity, H2550 nor have mercy. H7355
And when ye spread forth H6566 your hands, H3709 I will hide H5956 mine eyes H5869 from you: yea, when ye make many H7235 prayers, H8605 I will not hear: H8085 your hands H3027 are full H4390 of blood. H1818 Wash H7364 you, make you clean; H2135 put away H5493 the evil H7455 of your doings H4611 from before H5048 mine eyes; H5869 cease H2308 to do evil; H7489
Thus saith H559 the LORD; H3068 Deceive H5377 not yourselves, H5315 saying, H559 The Chaldeans H3778 shall surely H1980 depart H3212 from us: for they shall not depart. H3212 For though ye had smitten H5221 the whole army H2428 of the Chaldeans H3778 that fight H3898 against you, and there remained H7604 but wounded H1856 men H582 among them, yet should they rise up H6965 every man H376 in his tent, H168 and burn H8313 this city H5892 with fire. H784
And the heathen H1471 shall know H3045 that the house H1004 of Israel H3478 went into captivity H1540 for their iniquity: H5771 because they trespassed H4603 against me, therefore hid H5641 I my face H6440 from them, and gave H5414 them into the hand H3027 of their enemies: H6862 so fell H5307 they all by the sword. H2719 According to their uncleanness H2932 and according to their transgressions H6588 have I done H6213 unto them, and hid H5641 my face H6440 from them.

Commentary on Jeremiah 33 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 33
The scope of this chapter is much the same with that of the foregoing chapter-to confirm the promise of the restoration of the Jews, notwithstanding the present desolations of their country and dispersions of their people. And these promises have, both in type and tendency, a reference as far forward as to the gospel church, to which this second edition of the Jewish church was at length to resign its dignities and privileges. It is here promised,
Jer 33:1-9
Observe here,
Jer 33:10-16
Here is a further prediction of the happy state of Judah and Jerusalem after their glorious return out of captivity, issuing gloriously at length in the kingdom of the Messiah.
Jer 33:17-26
Three of God's covenants, that of royalty with David and his seed, that of the priesthood with Aaron and his seed, and that of Peculiarity with Abraham and his seed, seemed to be all broken and lost while the captivity lasted; but it is here promised that, notwithstanding that interruption and discontinuance for a time, they shall all three take place again, and the true intents and meaning of them all shall be abundantly answered in the New Testament blessings, typified by those conferred on the Jews after their return out of captivity.
